Y/N doesn't trust Sun and Moon (or so they tell themselves) but they were surprised because they expected to be abandoned. It's cruel and harsh, but they believe they have to save themselves to be saved. They can't trust anyone else to do it for them. This is due to past experiences that turned them so hard-hearted towards any extended hands and gestures of genuine care.

Once bitten, twice shy.

Sun and Moon know Y/N is wary and uneasy in their presence, they're trying desperately to show them that they can trust the nagas.
