[text] How do you feel about a threesome?
[text] If Jax put you up to this I swear to God.
[text] Oops, I brought spandex instead of leather.
[text] .....what did I agree to while I was drunk last night?
[text] I was hoping you would go with me.
[text] We always go to TKE parties together???
[text] Wait do you mean like as a date?
[text] Yeah. I'll go with you.
[text] Maybe I just feel like spending my night with you.
Rocio almost didn't hear him at first, the wind loud from the open car window, red hair a blowing mess behind her. And when she had processed what he said she could only turn to look at him, taking his hand off the gear shift so she could hold it instead.
"You're cheesy."
Cooper smiled and turned his eyes back to the road, and she was so glad he spoke her language. She liked him. She just couldn't say it yet.
“I want to see all the parts of you, even the ones you are ashamed of.” and “We’re stuck in this meaningless, mind-blowing sex loop.” for rooooper
"I want to see all the parts of you, even the ones you are ashamed of."
"Is seeing me naked not enough?" Her weak attempt at a joke didn't illicit a response from Coop and she knew that she was stuck in serious territory this time, as much as she fought to stay out of it.
What was she ashamed of? Her inability to be emotional, probably. Even when she brought up her mom there was only a hint of sadness in her voice, but no real outward sign that she was hurting inside as if it had just happened.
What made Coop so special, anyway? Why did he get to see those things?
Well the answer to that was simple enough but she wasn't ready to face it yet.
"Okay. I can try. Just... be patient, okay? We'll get there."
She realized then that she'd finally said something indicating how she felt about him, and by the look in his eyes, he didn't miss it.
She was in way too deep but she wasn't sure she wanted to get out either.
"We're stuck in this meaningless, mind-blowing sex loop."
The comment was sudden, piercing the silence of the moonlit room where previously all there had been was their slowing breathing and the soft whisper of skin against skin was Rocio shifted to rest her head on his chest.
She couldn't agree with him, as much as she did consider it to be true.
"I wouldn't say it's meaningless. If it had no meaning, I could easily be getting sex from someone else. But the whole mind blowing thing has to mean there's meaning so just hush and let me enjoy the cuddling."
He did hush, and a quick peek at him told Rocio he was smiling, and she knew why, and she wrinkled her nose at him in response.
"Yes yes, I know how much it amuses you when I inadvertently admit that I like you. Shut up and cuddle."
The silence pressed in on her like the way she wished his arms would wrap around her, so secure she knew neither of them would break it first. How long had it been? Six months? Seven? They'd bumped into each other in the park and hadn't said a word.
Would they ever?
She knew he'd been to the city a few times and hadn't told her, finding out instead from Perrie and Baby. He was really, really mad at her and she couldn't blame him.
But that didn't make it hurt any less.
Now she just stared, mouth slightly open in shock, taking in his subtle hint of scruff and those eyes and the way his jaw was clenched, trying to understand what was running through his head.
She might've started to cry if the rain hadn't beat her to it.
Cursing, she started fishing around in her purse for an umbrella, before remembering she'd left the house without it. Resigning herself to getting wet, she looked up at him again to say something, anything to Scott, to see if he'd even say something back.
Instead, he was looking at her purposefully and without saying anything, he was shrugging off his jacket and putting it over her shoulders, covering her now lighter hair with the hood.
And so they stood in the rain, still no words, only the question if the words would ever come pulsing between them.
rooper;
"Rocio, come on! It's gonna pour any second now."
Rocio shrugged, hair in loose waves streaming down her back, wearing nothing but the sheet she'd taken from the bed of their beach house they'd rented for spring break, too excited to see the stars on the waves to get dressed.
Which was a waste of time with them anyway, lost in the whirlwind of whatever this was, lost in each other.
He knew it was a lost cause, and stepped out onto the sand after her, throwing on a jacket over his bare chest but leaving it unzipped, sweats tugged on haphazardly.
Wrapping his arms around her from behind, Coop leaned down and pressed a kiss to a hickey he'd left on her neck. "Come inside."
As he predicted, it was starting to rain, and it only took a matter of seconds for it to strengthen into a downpour, and Rocio only shook her head again, turning to face him.
Letting the now useless soaked sheet fall to the ground, she watched as he swallowed hard, eyes dipping over her bare, wet skin.
"Stay outside."
He kissed her, and he pulled her close, and together they made lightning.
