laugh: he’d have a very serious laugh. just “heh heh” at first. but then someone tells an awful pun or his dad tells a dad joke and at first he’s like “i hate everything” but the second that people stop groaning or he’s out of earshot he bursts into laughter. what a dork

cry: he doesn’t cry often but when he does it’s bad. kind of an all day thing since he tends to keep sad things back. so when he’s in a sad mood it’s a good idea to just let him be. but as for how he cries it’s rather varied he has a wide range of crying capabilities. sometimes just quiet crying sometimes not (he’s not good at acting though. Like if he tried crying on command it’d be so badly faked…..)

sneeze: LOUD AS HELL AND WHEN HE SNEEZES IN A CAVE IT SCARES ALL THE WHISMUR IN A 100 YARD RADIUS

cough: surprisingly calm cough. has a handkerchief he keeps with him all the time though just in case. also useful in muffling the whismur-terrorizing-sneeze

walk: normal walk with a tiny bit of a strut to it. he got that pretty boy swag. he’s just used to walking in a really confident manner and if someone tells him to stop walking like that he literally turns into the ministry of silly walks because he has to relearn how to walk for like ten minutes

run: tbh when he runs he forgets about any pretense of dignity and just makes a mad dash to wherever he has to go. doesn’t look around too much though so he has a tendency to dodge things at the last second. once he jumped over a prius. it was awesome.

hold hands: v gently. his hands are pretty rough from mining and whatnot and the rings probably leave little indents on whoever’s hand he’s holding. so he doesn’t want to hurt whoever’s hand he’s holding so he holds it very lightly. typically tho the other person kinda sets the bar. if they’re holding on tight he’ll hold on a bit more since he figures they’re used to the texture of his hands and won’t be like “ew dude have you heard of a manicure” because he has. it unfortunately does not help. additonnal headcanon: the rings spin. please imagine the hand holdee just messing with the rings and steven just sIGHS LOUDLY

kiss: very clumsily. for a guy with a playboy image he doesn’t do much by way of physical contact. he is actually very shy about physical contact so the first time he kisses someone he’s probably like “yo that was a thing” and just be v happy about it. later kisses are much more confident though

hug: HUGS TOO TIGHTLY. RIB CRUSHING HUGS. RIP YOUR RIBS. he’s used to hugging metagross probably or one of his other pokemon and they are, obviously, either rock or steel. so. yeah. hug with caution. his comforting hugs are less crushing though. more like loosely looping arms around u and squeezing just a little bit

sing: actually doesn’t have as deep a singing voice as people expect him to. he likes singing but only really has confidence when he’s like, singing in the shower or when he’s home alone. caves have great acoustics so he likes to sing in caves. that is a way to quell the whismur freakouts tbh. also a particular draconid has fond memories of a very nice singing voice echoing through meteor falls. jen stop me. i’m trash

smile: steven has like three smiles first is a neutral, happy smile. the smile does reach his eyes yes but it’s not a super enthusiastic one. then is the “aww yes” super excited smile. like he just won a tough battle or he found a super rare stone or something and he’s just totally grinning and his whole face is like. glowing. he’s so happy. then there is the smolder and it’s hard for him to do sometimes but tbh it probably began with a photoshoot or something after he became champion. one of the reporters was like “this guy’s hot. tell him to do a smolder” and looking back at it he is v embarrassed at that but he’s p good at the whole “hello ladies and gentlemen” look now

frown: his frowns are very serious. if he is unhappy you k n o w. probably looks like he’s going to throw a rock through someone’s window. but half the time it’s just a vague annoyance that’s troubling him, so his expression is just overdramatic. when he is seriously mad about something though his frown is a lot less dramatic and he looks more sad than anything else. he hates getting mad, and since he hates getting mad he gets mad at himself for getting mad and it’s a vicious cycle

pout: please refer to this image. no but this is when you can REALLY tell he’s the pampered heir. if he doesn’t wanna do something or doesn’t get a thing (i’m serious it’s a material thing. like a rock or a cool new pokeball or something) he just pouts and is not happy. another image for ur reference. also a time when steven did not find dad jokes funny

fight: his strategy is “pick on the foe’s weakness”, so usually he’ll use type advantages, terrain, and other factors to his advantage. if he can find a hole in his opponent’s strategy he will totally punch you in the face. as for physical fights he doesn’t think he’s all that good at them but he’s actually surprisingly strong and one time he accidentally broke someone’s arm when he jokingly punched them because of the dang rings and cuffs

dance: you sure you wanna go there friend. it is my headcanon that this is what he does when he’s bored. helps him keep his confidence up and it’s fun so why not?

navigate a grocery store: he probably doesn’t go TOTALLY tamaki but i bet he has way too much fun using the shopping carts. he hops on one of them and just coasts down the aisles and grabs what he needs.

navigate a busy street: he usually just walks normally, if he can tell where he is he can usually find wherever he needs to go.

react to surprises: he will be totally stunned about stuff but he’ll try and act casual about it, but later admit that yeah he was pretty surprised there

look when they wake up: his hair is usually a mess and half the time he doesn’t wear proper pajamas he just flops in bed with whatever he’s wearing. when wallace found out he bought steven some special comfy pajamas and he wears them SOMETIMES but only when he’s not dead tired when he gets home.

look when they’re asleep: perfectly still, usually looking p content. doesn’t often have nightmares but when he does he usually has to call phoebe in to talk the ghosts out of haunting him. phoebe knows it’s not a thing but she does it anyway because he’s fun to chat with and he can tell her good places to get the best gems for her sabeleye to eat.
