1, 10, 19 for lore questions?
1. How to outsiders know when they’ve crossed you clan’s border? Marks painted or carved into trees or rocks? Glowing runes marking the edge?
They don’t! No one’s really sure just how big the Cerillos’ territory is. The southern edge of it is definitely the Breach itself, but how far north, east, and west they extend is a big ol’ shruggo. The job of the patrol is basically just ‘keep hostile people away from the village’.
The only real way an outsider would know for sure that they’re in the Cerillos territory is if they happened to find themselves at Badb’s tent, because everyone whose met her just sort of agrees that her tent is where the territory starts.
10. What’s fashionable in your clan? Talk about the clothing, hairstyles, makeup, accessories, ect.
So, the Cerillos people are historically shepherds, and as such, woven wool - and to a lesser extent, leather - make up the bulk of their textiles.
Among individuals that belong to, or want to more closely fit in with, the tribe, the main clothing you’ll see will be woven textiles with a number of patterns. Clothing is kept simple - blankets, tunics, dresses, wrap-around kilts. Of course, there are some outsiders who still dress in outside fashions (Badb and Glyph on the right, there) but who use some of the local textiles.
Separate from those that are trying to fit in with the local, historic Cerillos fashions are those who grew up in the surrounding desert communities and who picked up on their fashions, which are breezy wrap-around pants and typically a lack of a shirt. Not a lot of people dress like this, because it’s a long journey to the closest town where such clothing can be purchased, but those that do, do it because they find it more comfortable than wool.
And then there’s… these guys. The ones who have taken up long-term residence in the village, but for some god forsaken reason prefer canvas and leather in the desert.
As far as accessories go, you’ll see a lot of uncut precious or semi-precious stones, some gold (particularly in the form of beads), clay or glass beads, and sometimes feathers.
19. What are your clan’s values? What’s considered “good” and what’s considered “bad”?
These have changed depending on who’s in charge. With Magdalena nominally in charge and trying to rebuild the old Cerillos ways, a lot of emphasis is placed on the concept of the commons - every resource is shared, everyone contributes even if it’s in a small way. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” and all that. (They’re basically communists.)
So, sharing is considered good. Hoarding resources is considered bad. Stealing is considered bad, but so to is corporal punishment. Any unnecessary death is considered bad. When someone does something bad, even if it’s murder, the crime is discussed openly by the community and the focus is on restorative justice, not punishment.
