yay finally one of these accounts for fish! I've been a fish hobbyist for a while and some of the fish videos I see people post are atrocious. I'm glad to see fish getting the attention they deserve.

That's honestly my own reason to make this. Ive seen a few too many gifs and such with such.. poor animal care shown for laughs and its kinda sickening.

I really want to adopt a greyhound but I've never owned any dog before and I want to get an idea of what caring for one is like before I commit to having one for the rest of their life. Would it be appropriate to sign up to foster at a greyhound rescue knowing that one day I'm probably going to adopt one of the dogs I foster? Or is that bad/stressful for the shelter owners?

I don’t see why that would be a problem. The rescue gets a foster parent for one or several dogs and eventually one of their grayhounds gets a home. My shelter has foster parents end up adopting animals with some frequency. I’ve ‘foster-failed’ two cats myself, though admittedly the first was because she was deemed unadoptable due to her degree of scoliosis.

We recently rescued a cat who is very skinny (you can feel her whole spine and all of her ribs) and she sleeps basically all the time. She's in a big crate so her food and litter box are close by and she doesn't need to walk much, but even when we take her out she doesn't walk more than a few steps. Is that normal or is it a sign that she's in poor health? She's confirmed FELV and FIV negative btw.

Have you taken her to a vet????

I was the one who sent in an ask about a cat who was emaciated and having trouble walking. Turns out she has giardia. She's being treated now and is much more active, and gaining weight back fast. I just wanted to thank you, I don't think I would have been able to convince my parents to get her looked at by a vet if I didn't have your advice on it.
