Today I learned

That the modern Hula-hoop was invented by someone in my closest city, Steinkjer, Norway.

A while later, someone in the U.S. made a plastic toy and started a "Hula Hoop Craze"; and have therefore been remembered as the inventors.

So remember, call the Hula-Hoop a Rockering. Why? Because the Steinkjer-man was humble about it, while the Americans tried to get a patent for it.
