Glinda being part of Wonderful makes everything hurt so much worse. On the day she thought she had secured two of her favourite people in her life forever, she lost them both. FOREVER. That fucking sucks dude.

Also, reading Glinda as queer makes her character better so if you haven't already you should try it.

Because think about how the wedding scene is framed. Glinda's perfect but fake life and then what's really going on behind the scenes and then look at that through a queer lens. Her lovely lavender marriage and a life with Elphaba. There's a moment where she thinks she can have both. She thinks she can have the people she loves without compromising her public image and vice versa. But then by the end of the day she's lost both Fiyero AND Elphaba.

So then it's double heartbreaking when she finally chooses Elphaba over her 'bubble' (the first song to make me tear up btw) but it's too late.

Guys. She lost everything because she tried to have both. SHE LOST EVERYTHING BECAUSE SHE TRIED TO HAVE BOTH. I'm unwell

You Are Fucking Telling Me fifi was there the whole time. they've been using the top shot in promotions and even the beginning of part one and the whole time fiyero has been Lounging Dramatically next to them just out of frame. what the fuck is this im genuinely going to laugh so hard I contract a stomach ache. oh my god

My conspiracy theory is that one of the reasons they fired Stephanie J. Block for the role of Elphaba in 2000 and replaced her with Idina Menzel at the end of the OBC workshops is because SJB played the role SO gay that it was quickly crossing the line of plausible deniability. Like she doesn't seem to be able to help herself.

And thank god she eventually got to play the role on Broadway (arguably one of the best - if not THE best - actresses who ever did), because we finally got to see her get super fucking handsy and stare lovingly into Glinda's eyes inches away from her face for three hours:

Plus I cannot emphasize enough just how effective and moving this particular version of For Good is. Straight up feels like wedding vows.

(Ironically, she also has the best chemistry with Fiyero's character, and arguably the very sweetest performance of As Long As You're Mine in the entire slime tutorial universe.* So I'm just reading this as a Thropple Truther performance.)

*But that's just because she was (and still is) literally married to him. So they get uh. A little carried away in their performance. *cut to Sebastian Arcelus holding lantern up, his face covered in green makeup from aggressively making out with his wife on stage for several minutes* Apparently the makeup team HATED that song for them.

AU where Fiyero took the Goddamn Shot

After seeing For Good and being sent back into the Thropple Trenches, I can't stop thinking about an AU where Fiyero kills the Wizard.

So Fiyero is holding the Wizard at gunpoint after Elphaba releases the Animals from the cages, as is canon. Glinda enters, and then instead of him running away with Elphaba, he panics. He shoots.

The Wizard is now Dead. Oops.

Fiyero is panicking because he just Killed The Wizard. Elphaba is panicking because Fiyero, her friend and sort-of-lover-its-complicated just Killed The Wizard. Glinda is panicking because Fiyero, her beard husband just Killed the Wizard. Morrible and the Gale Force are about to enter the room.

Glinda, in an act of truly impressive desperation, activates the big metal head. She shoves a microphone in front of a semi-catatonic Fiyero because he'd be able to get closest voice-wise, and Elphaba unceremoniously kicks the Wizard's corpse into the secret room where the Animals came from. They have nothing left but Glinda's truly terrifying political sense and manipulation tactics, Fiyero's dramatics and half-decent Wizard impression, and Elphaba's magic that only does what she wants it to do about 50% of the time.

Somehow, this fucking works. Morrible and the Gale Force buy it hook line and sinker. They buy themselves a bit more time.

Cue the Thropple trying their damnest to somehow stop fascism while doing a Weekend at Bernies.

Plot points for the AU include:

Puppeteering the Wizard's corpse with magic so it can talk to Morrible.

Reversing the Anti-Animal laws without tipping off Morrible or anyone else for that matter.

Also pardoning Elphaba without causing a country-wide coup.

Trying to figure out how Glinda and Fiyero (as the Wizard Head) and Glinda and Fiyero (as themselves) can stand in the same room at the same time.

Hiding Elphaba whenever the Governess of Muchkinland comes to visit.

Giving Nessa some help and support in the hopes she gets less dictatory.

Giving the runaround to Boq when he goes to the Wizard to get un-tin-manned and also keeping him away from Nessa.

At some point, the head breaks and the trio try to fix it while none of them even know the slightest bit about machinery.

(Nessa and Boq help fix it, and they get roped into the Weekend At Bernies plot. They're actually very helpful as long as they don't interact with each other for too long and the others play interference)

Dorothy shows up (sans shoes, since Nessa's still alive, of course) with the Lion. Glinda and Fiyero (as the Wizard Head) give her the run around desperately while Elphaba frantically flips through the Grimmerie to find a Back-To-Kansas spell.
