Not only is this hilarious, it also solidifies the idea beyond a shadow of a doubt that Force Ghost Anakin spends a ridic amount of time lazily sprawled out, resting his head in Obi-Wan’s lap, cracking wise while Obi-Wan pets his hair.

;) Yep. I mean, I don’t make the rules here, people. This is just how it happened. We all know of my deep commitment to the idea that the Force Ghosts are only about 34% helpful to Luke at any given time: it makes sense that Anakin would spend most of his afterlife napping on (and demanding attention from) Obi-Wan, watching daytime TV and eating all of Luke’s snacks. (”Dad you don’t even need food” “SAYS WHO?”)

I swore at it realy loudly and then scrubbed the charger port with a toothbrush because apparently gunk gets trapped in there and can fudge with the connection or w/e. I'm just... Really Bad(TM) with most technology so anything going wrong is like IMMEDIATE PANIC MODE: ACTIVATED.

There are a lot of stereotypes, racism, and orientalism in the series already but I don't see white people complaining about all that. All white people are complaining about is that it's "not whitewashing," when it actually is. So it's not racism or stereotypes white people care about but actually are perpetuating said racism by not wanting a lead just because he's Asian.

Damn, no kidding. :( Wow, I had no idea the show was that bad. It looked pretty awful, but I didn’t realize it was that unapologetically awful. Also, I didn’t think of it like that.  ( @rocket-sith )

Okay the sentiment was definitely phrased horribly, but if the character is white to begin with, how is it whitewashing? Are we supposed to make him Asian just because he knows martial arts? Because that sounds like a pretty good way to promote ridiculous stereotypes. (I haven't seen the show so can't speak to the quality or lack thereof, but "let's turn the white dude into an Asian dude because karate" sounds like an invitation for a whole new set of problems.)

Oh, you’re totally right. I actually don’t know Iron Fist AT ALL before I saw this. I figured the character was originally Asian because of the original post’s implication! That’s a whole different can of worms, and I 100% agree that the idea of making a character Asian because only Asian people do martial arts or all Asian people do martial arts is definitely not an improvement.

I will say, I think that the problem primarily comes from the sentiments he shared which were DEFINITELY racist. I also think that there’s a difference between him being a white guy from a white culture with a ton of privilege doing something that could be seen as culturally appropriative and someone from another “minority” group doing it. 

At the end of the day, I think it’s a super thin line to walk as a white person getting into cultures and practices that have a history of being appropriated... Saying things like “these people don’t think it’s oriental enough,” just solidifies the idea that this is coming from a racist and generally unacceptable place... at least FROM HIM, not necessarily from the rest of the folks working on this show.

lmao that blog. I am torn between finding it hilarious because it’s just so over the top absurd, and finding it infuriating because it’s posting fake as hell BS to try and guilt/scare people away from enjoying stories about imaginary gay space wizards.

ikr? i can’t believe that’s someone’s hobby. they sit down and devote their free time to doing that. 

it was reading one of their posts and i couldn’t even get mad at the specfici content because it was just so much alternative facts
