Can I request the Rocketman Speech #5 and #21 for the Taron Blurb week? Maybe a little angsty if you can? Like y’all dated forever ago, broke up mutually but you never really got over him (he didn’t get over you though he tried like hell) and y’all reconnect later and the truth comes out? Or you can come up with your own idea too!! I definitely don’t mind!
Speech 5 - “I’m not good enough for you”
Speech 21 - “I never pictured my wedding before I met you”
------------------------------------------------------
Y/N and Taron went way back.
They grew up in the same tiny town, just a few streets away from one another. They went to the same primary school, the same secondary school, the same college and were in the same social circles for all that time and dated for a lot of it.
They first met in pre-school. Taron handed her the final red lego block and that had been it, they were friends.
As they grew up they would begin to walk to school together - it was a group of them that lived down their streets but Taron and Y/N would hang back and walk together. It was on one of the walks to school that Taron made his move, when they were just starting year seven (just eleven years old) he held her hand.
They were pretty much a couple from that day on, though of course they had to face the awkward pre-teen relationship, and yet still they managed to stay together.
Everyone knew they were made for each other, parents had ben calling their relationship since primary school and all of their friends were full supporters of it, unable to see them with anyone but each other.
At the end of college, to celebrate finishing their A Levels when they were eighteen, they went to Paris for a week, just the two of them. It was the first holiday they had where it was just them without any of their other friends as well.
And everything had been perfect. They were young and in love and Taron had ben sure that they were going to be together forever, hence why he bought her a promise ring. He knew it was cliche and cheesy but he had never been so sure about anything in his entire life. He loved her with his whole heart and soul, and knew that Y/N felt the exact same way as him.
And everything continued to be perfect for a while. Y/N went to university, Taron went to acting school, both of them in London, they were able to live together in their second years and bought a cozy apartment.
Y/N supported him through auditions that didn’t go his way, Taron supported her through finals and even though they had very little else in their meagre apartment, they had each other.
The trouble came when Kingsmen came out.
Y/N was so proud of him, of course she was. She was thrilled that he was finally getting the recognition that he deserved but with Kingsmen’s release came a whole wave of other issues as well.
Taron was constantly busy, it became harder for either of them to look towards a future together when it seemed as though neither of them had time to plan one. On top of that, it was no secret that Taron had gained an incredibly female-dominated fan base who weren’t always the friendliest towards Y/N.
Their break up, while a shock to everyone they knew, was a mutual thing and they ended it as friends, though they both knew that they would never be able to get to one another.
Y/N still had the promise ring and Taron still had the engagement ring that he had planned to replace it with.
It wasn’t until Rocketman that they saw each other again. Y/N was one of the writers for the script and they had ran into one another on set.
“No way!” Taron’s eyes were wide as he breathed the words. He had to admit that much of the few years spent apart from her he had been internet stalking her to check up on her, though he had a feeling that she probably did the same to him.
And they went to catch up, as old friends do and, inevitably, the conversation turned to their relationship, both of them wondering with every second why they ever thought that being apart from one another was a good idea.
“Why did we break up?” Taron finally asked, his eyes meeting Y/N’s over the table, they were filled with a sadness that Y/N had only seen present before when they had had a similar conversation ending their relationship.
“You know why, Taron,” Y/N attempted to laugh him off but Taron shook his head, a sad smile on his face.
“I’m... I’m not sure I do,” he admitted. Y/N rolled her eyes, attempting to swallow away the pain that her words brought.
“Because I’m not good enough for you,” she reiterated but Taron scoffed.
“Please, that’s the biggest load of bullshit I’ve ever heard,” he complained.
“No way! You’re the only woman I’ve ever thought of marrying, I mean, Jesus, I never pictured my wedding before I met you,” he told her.
“That makes sense seeing as though we met when we were toddlers,” Y/N deadpanned.
“Shut up! I’m trying to be cute and get you back!” Taron complained.
“You want me back?” Y/N asked in a momantary state of shock.
“Y/N, I’ve wanted you back from the moment we walked away from each other,” he reached over the table and took her hand gently. “I’ve never stoppped loving you, even though you hate Nutella, even though you steal my jumpers and even though you won’t watch Strictly with me. I’ve loved you for as long as I’ve known you and I need you in my life.”
Taron hated seeing the tears in her eyes and when she hadn’t responded after a few minutes he considered taking it back and disappearing once more from her life, but for good this time.
“And I love you,” she finally got out, her voice shaky from tears she refused to let fall. “Despite you wearing socks to bed, and even though you hate Bridget Jones and I love you even though you prefer Elton over Freddie,” Y/N laughed wetly through her tears and Taron felt his own begin to stream down her face. “And I love you so much, even though you never got around to using that ring you bought for me.”
