Rock Hudson (nascido Roy Harold Scherer Jr.; Winnetka, 17 de novembro de 1925 — Beverly Hills, 2 de outubro de 1985) foi um ator norte-americano. Apesar de ter sido amplamente conhecido como um galã nos anos 1950 e 1960, muitas vezes estrelando comédias românticas ao lado de Doris Day, Hudson também é reconhecido por papéis dramáticos em filmes como Giant e Sublime Obsessão. Hudson foi votado Estrela do Ano, Galã Favorito, e títulos semelhantes por inúmeras revistas de cinema. O ator de 1,9177 m de altura foi uma das estrelas de cinema mais populares e mais conhecidas do seu tempo. Ele completou cerca de 70 filmes e estrelou em várias produções para a televisão durante uma carreira que durou mais de quatro décadas. #HappyBirthday #🎉🎉🎉 ・・・ Rock Hudson, one of the all-time Mantiques of This Or Any Other Day, was born on November 17, 1925. Hard to believe he'd be 96, when he was struck down at just age 59. The Oscar-nominated hunk with a flair for romantic comedy was the first A-lister to succumb to AIDS, and it was worldwide — and often regressive — news. We all learned something from Rock Hudson's untimely death, and while today public figures are generally (not universally) more frank about their sexual orientations and gender identification, Rock came up in a world where he had no real choice but to be a he-man for a living, and to keep being gay to himself. He was not often given truly beefy roles to match his beefy physique, but did splendidly in movies like "Magnificent Obsession" (1954), “Giant” (1956), his Doris Day comedies and the out-there acting challenge that is "Seconds" (1966). Later, of course, he settled in on TV with "McMillan & Wife" (1971-1977). TV was also his swan song — his kiss with Linda Evans became notorious in the age when so many people thought kissing could transmit HIV, and by then, the whole world assumed the reason the strapping actor had withered away was due to the deadly virus. Rock died on October 2, 1985. His death probably did more to further the conversation about HIV/AIDS than all the people who had died before him. Sometimes, we need an idol to fall to pay attention.
