Oh hey, I did not see this question until just right now wth tumblr.

ANYWAY, Greg Weisman released a cut piece of dialogue towards the end of the season 2 finale, when Cassie and Tim talk to Virgil about the other runaways. In this cut, he says that Eduardo went back to live with his father in New Mexico, Arsenal decided to go solo (however much that makes sense, honestly), and Asami moved in with Tye because she refused to give the League any details of her home life in Japan. Virgil throws in that neither he nor Eduardo (and maybe Arsenal but I don’t think he cared if he did really) knew about Tye and Asami’s relationship.

And that’s how their canon! *throws confetti*

Hello! I saw your puppycat as the outlaw picture, and I was wondering...if the outlaw(or puppycat, haha) had a fleshed out personality, what would he be like?

I’m not sure how his personality is like in the real show (since he’s barely shown up yet), but I do have somewhat of an idea in my head which I tried to incorporate in the art piece… (I think a lot of this was inspired by other fan art people have done of him as well as what I’ve seen in the 1st ep aka the lullaby and puppycat)

Hello! I was just thinking something for a while now, and I thought I should ask you since your a really big inspiration of mine! I'm a junior, which means that college pressure has grown, and there is a HUGE chance that I'll only be able to attend community, due to financial reasons. I was wondering if going to a big school had any impact on getting a book published, or if college really shaped your writing to the best of its/your abilities. Thank you!

hi!!! i'm sorry i know this has been sitting in my askbox for a while and i didn't mean to ignore you but it's september (or it was TWO WEEKS AGO i don't understand how time works) and i was flooded but i'm procrastinating now!!!

so to your question:

i didn't go to a big school but even if i had it did not in fact help or hinder my getting published at all. i wrote my books on my own time (lots of all nighters chugging that espresso let me tell you), i researched agents on my own time, and i queried and revised on my own time. i, in fact (unfortunately), had a few professors of writing discourage me from pursuing publication until later in my life (a piece of advice i may wish i had taken when i am older and look back at my younger books but for now i'm doing what i want to do so /shrugs).

there's this weird myth (and i don't know who is perpetuating it bUT IT NEEDS TO STOP) that you need some sort of writing related degree to write and then to be published and this is a lie. what you need to do is read widely, experience life, write the best book you can and do your research! agents and publishers are not looking for credentials unless you are writing a very specific book (you would not write non fiction about psychology w/o a psych degree, for example).

college, as an experience, definitely shaped what i wrote. a lot of the research i was doing as an undergrad, and now as a grad student, shaped and continues to shape what i wrote. but as a booster/credential towards publication it was pretty much irrelevant. my degree was in english literature with a concentration in medieval and early modern which is helpful in so much as it challenges my understanding of genre but not as an actual thing that an editor saw and thought 'yes, sumayyah is the one i want to publish.'

so if you end up going to community college, that's 100% okay. it will be an experience that shapes your world view and give you a different breadth of experience to draw on as a writer, but it will not make it more difficult to get published i promise. <3
