Like, it could be based on the grammatical structures of cassian (word order, and such) while retaining the vocabulary of the native tongues. Kind of like how you type broken english into google translate trying to get a more natural translation of whatever your goal language is.
The way I'm thinking about it is: The technology is fairly advanced. It starts off as cassian with a few languages programmed in. There are a lot of holes in the translations and it does come off as google translate with a slightly smarter ai. Later a draken linguist is responsible for keeping it updated for the Mikrosian language. Some words in his own language *can't* be translated, so he either adds the word as is or makes a Cassian word for them. This happens across many races, so datachron is loaded with thousands of new words that would not be originally found in Cassian. As it is passed from race to race with different perspectives on language, the translations become more fluid and less like google translate.
its possible we’re saying the same thing here ^_^;
