Rodino Oneiro – the 2nd album by Greek musician Demy
Greek pop singer Dimitra Papadea known as Demy became known overnight in 2012, when she won three very prestigious MAD Video Music Awards in Greece. Since then she have had a successful career in her home country having seven number one hits. In the end of the last year she released her 2nd studio album titled Rodino Oneiro (Pink-red Dream).
Rodino Oneiro isn’t definitely a typical Greek album. It doesn’t include the cheerful bouzouki tunes – okey, one song does, but in general I would describe this album with words like modern, catchy and meaningful. Demy have had a lot of collaborations with other Greek celebrities and the results could be found in the album. The record begins with album titled song Rodino Oneiro which has very beautiful video and meaningful message. The aim of the video is to prevent spreading and to be aware of viruses like AIDS and HIV. The song itself is a phlegmatic ballad. Next track Proti Mou Fora (My First Time) is a duet with Greek band Melisses. Proti Mou Fora is a pop song which might not catch attention after the first listening, but the vocals suit together very well, which will make you like it after a while. This is being follow by the Summer hit Oso o Kosmos Tha Exei Esena (As Long As World Has You In It). That’s one of the highlight in this album. This song has everything – the intruction rap part by Mike. It suits perfectly and later on Demy solo follows till the refrain starts with uptempo vibes. In the end it all gets very intense with impossible singalong part by Mike and Demy repetition of the refrain, but within the last seconds it all calms down. The next track is Greekish I Alithia Miazi Psema (The Truth Looks Like a Lie) which starts off with bouzouki solo. The entire song is very energetic and loud in good sense. One more number one hit could be found in her album and it’s the song The Sun featuring Alex Leon and Epsilon. As the title refers, it’s another summer hit, what was popular back in 2013. It is song that I would dance along in the Greek beach as we could see it also in the official video. A club song Nothing better feat. Playmen follows after the sunny song, even though this track is talking about being in the beach as well. Demy made sure to have something for Eurovision fans. Who wouldn’t love Sofia Vossou Eurovision entry Anixi? Album ends with English versions of Oso o Kosmos Tha Exei Esena and Rodino Oneiro. Unfortunately they aren’t as impressive as Greek versions, but international fans definitely appreciate it. Generally it’s an album, where could be found very different songs. A little bit of national sounds as well as dance, relaxing and deep music. We will definitely hear a lot of more from Demy in the future, but meanwhile let’s enjoy the music she has made for us already!
