Oof. Probably yes. Given that he’s older he would value someone younger usually over his own life as they have more ahead of them to look forward too. Aern’s definitely argued with him about this mindset but it’s something that he’ll probably never be able to fully shake.
In less life-threatening circumstances, it would only happen after a very long and serious discussion. And he would try to stay close and friendly with her to ensure Aern was doing ok, even if he was no longer romantically involved.

14: Do they make it a point to eat at lease one meal a day together with their partner, or do they do as they please?
Silver definitely has a lot of meals with Aernthota, but I’m sad to say most of them aren’t out of a romantic desire for closeness (but some are!!!). More often than not, if they aren’t just travelling together through Eorzea, Aernthota is making sure he actually eats when he gets too involved in his studies.
On the other hand, he does love putting his culinarian skills to the test and making something special for him and his love.
26: What do they love most about their significant other?
Besides everything (cop out answer, hype!) he is amazingly in love with Aernthota’s ability to laugh. Without her influence, he’d be even more of a stodgy old grump than he is now. Her laugh infects him with happiness that no one else can match. Thanks to her, he’s really grown as a person past his initial personality: reclusive studious doof.
