did some studies on one of my OC’s, Taki. i wanted to explore his body, and he’ll probably get more tattoos in the future (and scars. poor kid cant go a day without running into a fight).

Exhibit: Forty-Seven Ronin

Also known as the Ako Vendetta or Genroku Ako Incident...

Characters:

Kira - bad commander (high level)

Asano - good commander (medium level)

ronin - samurai turned rogue (lower level)

Plot:

Kira kept disrespecting Asano and trying to sleep with his wife. This went on for a long time. Finally, Asano drew his sword within Kira's house (a crime already punishable by death) and gave Kira a cut on his forehead. Knowing he would be killed, he committed seppuku (ritualistic suicide). His men, forty-seven samurai, decided Asano had acted the right way and that his death was a dishonor. Secretly they plotted to kill Kira for years, meeting here and there, keeping out of the spotlight and largely giving up their samurai duties, now being without a leader. When the time came, they stormed Kira's house and slaughtered everyone, including Kira. Realizing their actions would bring dishonor upon thier clansmen and families, all forty-seven committed seppuku. 

This story is the epitome of the warrior way (bushido) and ethics in Japan. To do what is right even if it kills you. We have similar sayings in America... "death before dishonor" commonly said by the Marines.

The exhibit was of images of the forty-seven warriors, all done individually.
