6. Are people afraid of your OC? If so, is that fear warranted?

There’s actually no particular reason to be afraid of Justine, but people quickly realize that she’s someone to be wary of. This woman knows how to say (and do) terrible things with the most charming smile on her face.

3. What first impression do strangers get from your OC?

Despite her background, Justine gives the impression of someone who is used to looking down on everyone else - and not everyone believes she joined the Navy as a graduate of the Schola Progenium rather than as an aristocrat's disgraced offspring. She knows how to carry herself, although her manners can be somewhat affected. One might think she's one of those women who's only ever in it for herself, and honestly? That assessment isn't far from the mark.

5. Does your OC have a strict morning routine? If so, what is it?

Oh yes, something along the lines of those movies where the main character is a successful millionaire. Early wake‑up, ice‑cold shower, physical exercise. Breakfast! And the prayer before that.

And then, for a while, she would stand by the dressing table to apply makeup and sigh about the new wrinkle that had appeared on her face (though it didn’t actually happen).

4. What is your OC like when they’re sick? Do they try to push through it or are they completely bed-ridden?

Justine is quite attentive to her health and is one of those who carefully follows all the instructions given by her doctor. Everything except for bed rest. Lying in bed all day and doing nothing is absolutely unbearable for her.

6. Are your OC’s decisions influenced more by their head or by their heart?

Although the situation obliges Justine to act rationally, her heart influences her final decision on any given matter.

7. Is your OC structured or do they go with the flow?

It's more like "Everything didn’t go according to plan, just as planned" (c)

2. How affluent is your OC? Does their level of wealth matter to them?

Pretty affluent as a Rogue Trader, I must say. Schola Progenium managed to introduce Justine to the concept of asceticism - and she no longer wanted anything to do with it.

4. How good is your OC with children?

Justine loves children, but she doesn’t have much practice interacting with them - I mean, when it comes to little ones. She’s pretty good at finding common ground with teenagers because she has the vibe of that very aunt who’s living her best life.

Furthermore, she feels maternal feelings towards some members of her retinue - Cassia and Kibellah.

2. What animal do your associate with your OC?

Someone who is flexible and elegant. Maybe a swan? anger issues also relatable

6. What is one of your OC’s happiest memories?

Justine’s happiest memories are associated with her first husband - and that’s why they’re rather painful. However, a genuine smile blooms on her lips the moment her fingers touch the piano keys. He was the one who taught her how to play it.

4. Has your OC ever broken a promise?

Yes, it happened, but it was more of an exception to the rule than the rule itself. Justine doesn’t like to make promises she can’t keep.

5. Has your OC ever upended their life and restarted from square one? If not, have they considered it?

At the very least, her new status as a Rogue Trader turned her life plans upside down — and even twice over, given Kunrad’s betrayal.

There were several events in her life that were similar in significance to this one, but it had never happened before that she had to start over from scratch. Justine is not ready to abandon her past, no matter how dark it may be and she doesn’t really want to.

🔴 7. What would others consider the most attractive part of your OC?

⚫ 1. How far will your OC go to achieve their goals?

It mostly depends on the goal at hand, there aren't a lot of things that Viola is willing to go overboard for. If it's possible, even when chances are slim, she will try to either negotiate a less painful way towards her goal, or she might abandon it, if cons outweight pros.

There was exactly one time she was ready to use whatever means she had to, and it was her hunt for proper bionic arms for Martinax. Overcome by grief and anger, she pulled every string she had, be it admechs on Kiava Gamma, who could manufacture something custom, or Vladaym and his bunch of shady merchants, who could get the materials and blueprints.

At some point she was almost willing to look into heretech, if it meant giving her love the ability to perform surgeries again. Thankfully, Eogann stepped in to remind her of the exact same thing she once told him - that sometimes, we are powerless to change something, and the price can be too high, if you're too persistent.

So, Jaze never returned to his work as a surgeon, but he still was able to assist, teach, and, most importantly, look after himself without help. And hold Viola in his new metallic arms, of course. For what little time they had to live post-canon, that is.

🔴 1. What is the easiest way to make your OC angry?

Short answer: be an arrogant aristocrat.

Long answer: there are two ways of making her angry, actually.

> If you want to make Viola "violent" type of angry, act like your title/rank/family name gives you a right to act like an asshole towards others.

> If you want to make her "bitter" angry, you just need to make any negative remark about bastards of noble families or about the fate that usually befalls on them. Yes, Theodora, I'm looking at you and your sibling. Seberian, you barely get a pass.

🔴 2. What aspects of a person—appearance, personality or otherwise—are attractive to your OC?

Kindness is so far and between in the Expanse, that most of the time being a sensible human is enough to make Viola curious about you.

Appearance wise, she really doesn't have a lot of preferences, although she tends to fall for older looking men and women (is it wrinkles? is it worn, "experienced" vibe? who knows!). She also has a peculiar love for aquiline or otherwise crooked noses.

Admechs get their own mention here, because Viola's attraction to them is... complicated. It's something between lust, awe and reverence, when it comes to servants of the Omnissiah. Most likely, Viola won't admit it out loud, especially not in front of a mechanicus, but the appearance of their sacred steel... does things to her.

🔴 3. Does your OC enjoy sex?

Moderately, yes. It is way too easy for her to lose all desire when she's too stressed, and it's tough to get her in the mood if she's anxious about something. Which, for a rogue trader, is most of the time.

For what it's worth, she enjoys both letting her partner take the reigns and being worshipped/adored by them in the process. Something something having to live without the weight of the entire Expanse on her shoulders for at least an hour.

🔴 4. How important is the concept of strength to your OC?

Depends on whether we're talking about physical or mental strength.

Physical strength - not so much, really. Of course, she appreciates stronger members of her retinue (watching Abelard get lost into endless parry mode is a rather majestic sight, she'll admit), but it's not something she finds particularly important.

Now, mental strength for Viola is something much more commendable. Those who stand by their beliefs, who don't turn back before hardships, now those are worthy of her respect. Emperor knows, she lacks that type of strength herself.

🔴 5. Is your OC vengeful?

Viola will tell you "no" and that will be a big fat lie. She is, it's just that the opportunity to have her revenge presents itself so rarily, that it's not worth pursuing.

🔴 6. Are people afraid of your OC? If so, is that fear warranted?

Are people afraid of Viola von Valancius? Some are, especially after she returned from Commorragh, and her ruling became a bit more dogmatic for those who got soothed by her naive iconoclast tendencies.

Are they afraid of Viola? Not really, she isn't someone who can instill fear by her sheer presence.

🔴 7. What would others consider the most attractive part of your OC?

That's the neat thing, she is not attractive :D Average looking, yes, but that's about it, and most people are more attracted to her position as a rogue trader, or her wealth, or anything else that is not her looks.

I'd say, that her body is her most attractive feature - pear shaped, nice hips, strong thighs, all that jazz, but yet again, it's not for everyone to see and most of the times is obscured by her coat and armor.

🟣 6. Is your OC book-smart or street-smart?

Book-smart, mostly, especially when it comes to interactions with high-ranking people. Even as a bastard, she was, of course, properly educated on etiquette, politics, everything that an aristocrat might need. But she was also dumped at a forge world and placed under care of a rather eccentric magos biologis and his acolyte when she turned 15, and in the time between that "exile" and her being summond to Theodora, she didn't have a lot of chances to practise social interactions.
