Pairing: Marty Scurll/Dante Westmore (oc)
Song: Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham
Lyric: "I was dreaming but I should have been with you instead."
HIs world was wide awake, but the love of his life's world was fast asleep. That was the thing about long-distance relationships, especially those that spanned the globe. Time zones could play hell on one another. Normally Dante would be okay with the time zone, well, at least he could tolerate it; but last night he had missed something important.
While Dante had been nestled safely in his bed in Orlando, his lover Marty Scurll had lost his title to Will Ospreay in Japan.
Dante had woke first to the news and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Had he really slept through the night? He knew how much the match had meant to Marty. He couldn't believe it. Quickly, he tried to video call his villain. Marty answered and Dante instantly noticed his disheveled state. Marty was up late, for starters. He looked like he had never had an hour of sleep in his life. "Marty..."
"Oh. You finally called," Marty glumly spoke. His accent was thicker than usual, but it usually was whenever Marty was upset.
"Marty I'm sorry...I just..."
"Decided sleep was more important? Forget how much this match meant to me?" Marty scoffed, sounding upset.
"I...I've been sick," Dante frowned, running a hand through his shaggy black hair. "I guess I finally got all my sleep at once. I was dreaming but I should have been with you instead. I know-"
There was a sigh from Marty, the villain shaking his head. "No, no I'm sorry. I...that was extremely rude of me. I know you've been busy with training for NXT. It's selfish of me to expect you always be there when I can't always be there."
"Sorry you lost to Will. I know he's never someone you wanna lose to," Dante gave a sheepish smile, "Maybe you can focus on someone else now. Maybe Okada?" Dante gave a knowing grin. He knew Marty wanted to become a champion of that caliber, to prove that he was just as strong as the other leaders of the Bullet Club.
There was a small, sleepy smile from Marty, "Maybe now's the time for this?"
"Maybe. Why don't you get some rest? I'll call you later tonight?" Dante gave a small smile, "I love you, Marty."
"I love you, Dante. I'll call you when I've gotten some sleep," Marty agreed. He blew a kiss into the camera before the screen went to black.
Yes, long-distance was hard. Dante knew that from moments like this. He had also learned in moments like this, however, that he wouldn't trade it for most things in the world.
