Mondo leaned against the side of the bus, hands shoved into his pockets(one resting over Chuck's sleeping form). His head was down, hiding his face in the large collar of his coat.
Why was he even here? He'd barely made it there a few days ago, and all of a sudden there was a field trip? Why couldn't he have stayed behind to organize his room or something? Anything to avoid whatever stupid task they were supposed to be doing here...
"Yeah...?" He looked up as someone approached, lifting his head just enough for one violet eye to appear over his collar. Seeing who it was, he amended himself.
"....Ma'am?"

Kirigiri's footsteps were light as she traveled down the hallway, moving with practiced ease and sense of purpose. Her long lavender hair flowed after her and she absentmindedly tightened the black bow she had secured onto her braid. Her sharp face was blank, giving no indication of any other emotion besides casual indifference.
She had not been quite as social the last few days. Truth be told, she rather liked the solitude. It gave her time to think, to try and remember things. Though her attempts had not been successful. Despite her lack of socializing, she had heard many rumors about a new boy. He would be the lowest of the low, the dirt of the earth, and the other Red Aristocrats were sure to remind him of that fact every chance they got. If ordered to by the Princess, she would as well.
Finally she reached her destination, the kitchen. She had yet to have a good cup of coffee and she was long over due for her daily dose of Luwark. However, as she stepped inside, she heard footsteps coming from behind her. Her dark purple eyes narrowed for a moment and she cleared her throat.
"Who is there?" Her voice was commanding, but not cruel.

"H-hey, you! Get back 'ere! Chuck!" Mondo panicked, scrambling to stand up as the little Maltese caught a scent and decided to investigate. No. Nonononono. Chuck was all he had left. Chuck was the only one he could trust anymore, and he still didn't even know if the orphanage would allow him to keep him around if someone found him...
The teen followed after the dog, managing to catch him by the scruff of the neck before he could re-enter Hope's Peak and possibly be spotted by someone. "Hey, you gotta stay with me, bud! I still don' know if they allow pets 'ere..." He cradled the squirming ball of snow-white fluff in his arms, chuckling softly as the fur tickled a little. He laid back on the grass in the courtyard of the orphanage, holding Chuck up above him.
" 's just you and me now, y'know? Everyone else...." He didn't finish the thought aloud, but a million scenes or more of his family flashed through his mind, all at once. "....yeah. Just us, now..." He blinked and looked up as he heard footsteps approaching, quickly hiding the small puppy in the fold of his jacket. "...!" He was instantly defensive, as he always seemed to be when talking to others.
"Yeah? Whaddya want?"

Mahiru drank her water quickly and washed the glass she used. She had just finished cleaning the dining hall and was preparing to go to her room. Anything she could do to avoid running into anyone with a dangerous gleam in their eyes. There was nothing worse than biting her tongue as she witnessed something horrible. So she spent any spare time she had alone in her room... or outside, taking a few photos when she knew none of the red aristocracy members were up and about.
...Everyone was abuzz about some new fellow. She could care less. Rumors, gossip, she wasn't one to participate in all of that. It was rude, firstly. And secondly, small talk and chatter were things she tended to steer clear of.
She folded the rag she used on the dishes and before she could even think to leave, she heard footsteps approaching her from behind. Mahiru lowered her gaze to the floor so that her red bangs covered her eyes, inwardly preparing herself for an encounter.
"Yes? Can I help you?" She asked curtly, finally turning around to face whoever it was that approached her.
