this is not really a question to strange sorry. do you have any tips for roleplaying? i’m trying to get into it but i’m not very good at it.
Create a blog for that.
Create your rules.
Research about the character you want to RP.
If you want to RP in different verses, specify them in your blog.
Write a bio page for your character so people who don’t know them.
Talk to another writer before just starting to RP with them, some people find that rude.
Read another writer’s rules before just starting to RP with them.
Write starter calls and publish them under your character tag.
If you’re an adult, do not RP anything not allowed for underage people, such as gore, blood, extreme violent stories, smut, NSFW etc.
If you intend to RP the things above, ask the writer if they’re adult before.
Do not RP such things with someone who doesn’t want to.
Avoid spamming people, unless they want (like me, I love being spammed with asks and reblogs).
If a person isn’t very interested, don’t be toxic.
Specify how long you normally take to reply, if you’re busy, if you’re accepting different verses or not, what kind of things you want to RP, what kind of things you don’t etc.
Talk to other RP blogs, ask them if they want to RP, take a look at their writing style and how their RPing is like to see if you’re interested or not before inviting them.
Don’t be rude to people, don’t offend people and don’t be upset if a RP partner just stops RPing. Normally it’s not personal. people need inspiration to write and sometimes, people aren’t in the mood, so yeah, don’t get too involved and don’t get too dependent on RPing, see it just as fun. I have great RP partners who just are too busy or not interested in it anymore and it’s okay, it was great while it lasted.
It’s okay to drop threads and start new ones, as long as you talk to the person you’re RPing with. They might think it’s rude if you drop the thread and disappear, so leave a note explaining why you’re not going to RP anymore etc.
Decide with the other person if you’re going to use icons or images or not and what kind of images.
DO NOT CONTROL THE OTHER WRITER’S CHARACTER. It’s considered a very rude thing to do and it sort of ruins the point of RPing. The fun in writing a story together is that each one controls their own character, if one person wants to force the story into something or control the other character, then it stops being fun and it becomes one sided. What the other character thinks, does, their wishes, their will, that’s up to their writer to decide.
DO NOT CREATE CHARACTER THAT INTERFERE WITH THE OTHER CHARACTER’S CANON WITHOUT ASKING THE WRITER FIRST. Like, my character is your character’s father/son/wife and I didn’t ask the other person first.
If you want to plot a story, talk to the person you want to RP first. Some people (like me) prefer act and react stories, meaning I don’t want spoilers for my own RPs, I like the story to flow. Other people like everything plotted.
Decide the type of RP you want to do, like, long text RPs, very short RPs, Ask blog style RPs, private RPs etc.
Don’t keep RPing if you’re not into it anymore, it’s supposed to be fun, not work.
