Lazariterkirche Gfenn, church restoration Dübendorf, Zürich, Switzerland; 1961-67
Rolf Keller (photography by Jean Haubensak)
«Romanesque church erected around 1200, belonging to the former monastery of Gfenn, after the Reformation was profaned by being used as a stable, barn and house, and finally ruined by fire, so that only the outer masonry walls remained. At the present time a non-denominational church. Difficult decisions had to be taken regarding parts where 'the building itself no longer encouraged restoration', where nothing remained and new modern arts had to be created.»
