Wednesday practice (03/04/17) After a great practice the previous week this week was marred by lower back pain, falling over (a lot) and shin splints. The worst of these were the dreaded shin splints. I have suffered with them for many years now, even when I was in the Army I suffered with them, back then they were known about but you just ploughed through regardless of injury or pain (the enemy won't stop while your shin splints get better). These days I can stop when I need to, thankfully. After a decent warm up the pain eased up but it can get so demoralising when one minute it's all going good and the next Im flailing around like Bambi on roller-skates. We started learning how to make contact last night, it was quite technical but a lot of fun, and we all managed to have that very polite British bubble where we knock someone over and then apologise and try and help them up. This Rollerderby game is funny.

Now the weather has finally decided that it's definitely not winter, I can get out more and skate.
