After reading Kasumi's POV, I think the song, "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi really resonated.

I'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to save me

Kasumi lost a large part of himself after Mitsuharu's death, it was implied that at that time he even wanted to follow Mitsuharu. He lost his all his senses and threw himself into surgery, asking time and time again what is the meaning of living if Mitsuharu isn't there anymore.

He bears so many burdens of those he loves, his patients, the EICU, along with the world beating him down, but in the end, he was alone. He really needed someone by his side to prove that it's okay and help him heal from the past that plagues him so much.

It's easy to say

Little by little, Kasumi came to love MC's presence and her being there made all the things he's experiencing a little more bearable. It started to first show when MC brought him tea and a little drawing of Kalmia to cheer him up.

And I tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes

Kasumi often imagines MC smiling and her sunny disposition which brought him comfort, his sketch he left behind was of her smiling and his words, "Stay with Me." He alse mentioned finding comfort in her voice.

When Kasumi needed MC more than ever, she had withdrawn from studying under him. Just when he thought of her smile and her presence, he had to witness Dr. Tsuchiya hugging her on the roof which undoubtedly broke him even further. The night before he went back to London, he was alone and desperately looking for something to hold on to, but nobody was there for him.

I let my guard down

I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved

Slowly, Kasumi allowed himself to be vulnerable in front of her.

All he wanted to do was protect her, but he was hit with the words, "You don't have to love me anymore." As he acknowledged his feelings for her and vowed to protect her with his all, MC pulled the rug and ran away. As he was slowly getting used to the warmth that MC brought, it was so quicky taken away.
