Roman Soldier Ghosts in Somerset There are a few reports of people sighting the spirits of Roman soldiers around Somerset. Most of them are around the roads, of which there are many old Roman roads still in existence. The area around Wells & the Mendip transmitter is one area that they have been spotted, still making their journey up or down the road. A glimpse into the ancient past as these would be classed as residual, an imprint played over, which can be viewed if you are lucky enough to be in the right place, time and have the right atmospheric conditions. My own parents saw what they thought was a Roman soldier at dusk one day in the 90's on the verge of the main road. I would love to see one, that would be an amazing sight to see.. Also on a more lighthearted note, it is said that the figure of a naked Roman soldier was apparently been seen running around the centre of the town, near the Abbey by a police officer who gave chase, only to see the figure fade into the air. Which begs the question, if he was naked how would he know he was a Roman? or from what time period he was from?
