Olivia’s Assistant - Roman Godfrey x Reader
Olivia Godfrey was your boss, not only inside the white tower, but outside of it too. A great many people were scared of the mother, she was a powerful, influential woman after all. You were more than willing to work for her, not scared of her like the rest of Hemlock Grove was. You actually respected how she wormed her way into a man’s world, using it to her advantage.
This wasn’t the first instance you had been asked to interact with her children, nor would it be the last. You were driving to a bar, the shady one on the corner, to pick Roman up. He wasn’t supposed to be in there, but he had a nick for breaking the rules.
If you had to choose a favourite out of the siblings, it would have to be Shelley. She was so sweet, and always had interesting things to speak about, whether that be a book she had read or a message she had sent to her uncle Norman. You couldn’t understand why some people were so cruel to her, sure her appearance was definitely different, but that didn’t mean it held no beauty. Her eye would be one detail you loved, many women attempted to largen their eyes with cosmetics, however the Godfrey girl didn’t need to. And through it, she saw only the good in things, she really was too good for this world.
Roman however was a different story. Much so. He never missed a chance to try and convince you or any other girl for that matter to join him, whether that be for a quickie in his car or anywhere else that was available. His young foolishness could tarnish his family’s name, although he didn’t seem to care if that was a consequence. He liked indulging in the moment, however you did not. Olivia had trained you to be organised and to always plan ahead.
Parking the car outside, you shivered at the bar’s dishevelled outer appearance. How did it convince anyone to enter whilst looking like that? You were sure you’d have to change you clothes after you entered, perhaps even burn them.
Slowly, you made your way inside, being cautious of everyone you passed. You drew eyes, being dressed so differently from everyone else, however you thought you looked respectable, and so did Olivia, and that was all that mattered.
It was no surprise to find Roman seated at the bar, puffing a cigarette and holding a glass with little remains in his other hand. He saw you quickly, he wasn’t shocked in the slightest to see you. He knew Olivia must have sent you, this was clearly not your scene.
“That stuff kills.” You took the cigarette from his lips, stubbing it out in its designated tray. The boy didn’t retaliate, he only downed the rest of his glass. “And if you die, who’s going to run your family’s business?”
“Not me, if I’m dead.” You didn’t need to tell him, he willingly got up from his seat, towering above you as you did so.
“Who am I going to work for then?” He stopped in his tracks, looking down at you with curiosity.
“You’re saying that when I take over from my mother, you’ll become my assistant?” Now he was interested. He felt like he had won at a fair game, as a regular boy. As a child he never had to compete for things, they were just handed to him on a rich platter.
“If that’s in your wishes then yes. Now let’s go.” You grabbed his arm, pulling him out of the foul place and towards your car. He would have been fine on his own, he knew what your car looked like from the amount of times you had to take him back home.
“It is.” He shut the car door you were holding open for him shut, balancing his hand on the hood of your vehicle. He even made your car look small.
“What is?” He had gone silent for minutes that you no longer knew what he was speaking about. The Godfrey heir only smirked at how naïve you sometimes could be.
“You working for me is in my wishes.” He leant down so that you could smell the smoke in his breath. “And then you can’t keep denying me, because you’ll be obligated to follow my orders.”
Roman got in the car, leaving you speechless until time caught back up with you. When it had you got in the driver’s side, putting your keys in the ignition, and sending an unimpressed glance Roman’s way.
“That’s not how it works Roman.” He should have already known this.
“We’ll see.” The game had begun.
“Can (Y/N) join us for dinner?” Roman asked Olivia as he hovered over her in their private kitchen. His mother only furrowed her brows, but brushed his behaviour off.
“I don’t see why not, but it might have to wait until later, she’s running some errands for me at the moment.” He was getting exactly what he wanted.
“Can you fetch Roman from his room please dear?” You were surprised by Olivia’s invitation to join her and her children for dinner, however you didn’t decline. You couldn’t, it was such an honour.
You went up the stairs, walking through the hallway that lead to his room. Knocking on the wall, you received no answer, so you entered. Roman wasn’t in his room. As you looked around the room, you noticed it wasn’t the tidiest, but he was a teenage boy after all.
And then you saw that the bathroom door was opened a smidge, so you knocked on that instead. “Roman, are you in there?” He was quick to reply.
“I’m decent.” Perhaps you should have known better, but you entered trusting his words. He had lied.
“Roman, this is inappropriate!” You turned away, although you had already seen him laying in the bathtub. Naked. Even though you had faced the other direction, you still covered your eyes with your hand, trying to erase the memory so it didn’t stay marked in your brain.
“I am decent. Don’t you think so?” He flirted far too much, and you couldn’t bare to handle it.
“Dinner’s ready.” You muttered to him, embarrassed, before you went to leave. But his voice stopped you once more.
“So you did get my invitation?” That bastard.
The dinner table was tense. You wondered if it was always like this. All that had been discussed was Olivia asking what you did outside of your duties to her. You thought your life was pretty boring, but she thought the opposite.
“Mum, I have a question.” Olivia nodded her head, allowing her son to ask whatever was plaguing his mind.
“When does (Y/N) become my assistant?”
