Hello, my mother suggested this blog to me because I'm trying to find resourses on Romani culture. I'm trying to make a male non binary Romani character but I'm very hesitant since I would not want to perpetuate stereotypes about Romani culture. I wanted to make Them a dancer, what would you suggest?

While the “Romani Dancer” is somewhat of a stereotype, dancing is a huge part of many Romani cultures. I don’t personally think that it would be problematic to make a non-binary Romani character a dancer. Just be careful; dances vary by subgroup, so you’re going to have to determine what subgroup this character is before you determine what type of dance they might do.
For example, Flamenco is only traditional to Spanish Roma, who self-identify as Gitanos/as. (This is only if you make them a traditional Romani dancer.Obviously, other types of dance are fine, such as ballet, jazz, etc.)
