summer is sort of nearly over (i'm lying i live in the mediterranean it's still over 30 degrees every day) but here's some chaotic academia (or academia that isn't so polished) in summer! yknow to cope.
- sitting in an old t-shirt on your bed, fan blowing your hair out of your face, reading, maybe annotating a book that perfectly translates the heat that presses down on you
- making iced tea (just some black/green tea, some lemon juice and honey or sugar) and drinking it out of a fancy teacup
- standing with your bare feet in the ocean, shielding your eyes from the sun, thinking about the vastness of it all (and shrieking in horror when some sweaweed touches your ankle)
- getting just stupidly excited when it rains even though it's still like 37 degrees
- being a tourist in your own city/region, visiting museums and monuments, finding a botanical garden and hiding from the sun beneath a tree to read, listen to music, write stories or poetry, or just sit there and appreciate your surroundings
- having friends over for the night, staying up late to look at the stars and talk about anything
- longing for school/uni but also kind of never wanting it to start again
- laying on the ground with a book held out above you, the cold floor cooling your back
- textbooks and notes scattered on a picnic blanket, to prepare for the next school year
- hunched over a classic or a play at night, squinting at phrases (the fan keeps blowing your hair in your face so you can only use one hand to hold down your pages)
- going on walks, trying to keep to the shady side of the road
- sitting somewhere outside, in the shade of a building or a tree, and just looking at people passing, at the birds and the plants and the architecture
- not worrying so much about the fancy clothing because it's too warm anyway
- old bags, worn school shoes, dirt under your nails and tea stains on book pages
- have your breakfast early, by an open window or on a balcony, when it's still cold enough to wear a jumper or cardigan
