"I can see the pain behind your eyes,It's been there for quite a whileI just wanna be the oneTo remind you what it is to smile, yeahI would like to show youWhat true love can really do"
Why did Ne-yo did not choose a more vulnerable version of this song? This song might hit the top if he did.
With all the long distances away from family and worry we had every challenging day, we need to be comforted. We take this comfort from our special someone, close friends, best friends, and most specially our family.
I am most comforted when I speak my heart out to my grandmother. She is a mother to me. (Peace Mama, nanay mo naman siya! Hehehe.) She was there teaching me how to stand for myself and walk this life independently. That started when I was in Grade one. I lived a simple life with my Nanay (grandmother) in the province and taste the hardships and hard works in life.
There are no days that I can not get a strip of good advises and life's wisdom from her. I have to wake up early in the morning so that I can not be late in school. If I was lazy enough to do so, she had to force me to go to the bathroom and she was bathing me. How I miss that little dependent and innocent boy! When she had to went to the market, I am always with her. She was the ultimate 'suki' or regular customer of the market vendors. During one of our walks in the market. She told me to read all the signboards in the street so that I can practice my reading. She was sure that when a little boy can read, he cannot be lost in a place wherever he goes. Little did I know, I was starting to memorize the place and up to now I always read the signboards of the places I go.
When I need comfort, I talk to my Nanay until I can learn how to smile again. But in times like this that she needs a rest from a recent hospitalization, even how much I need her comfort, I can not let her carry my fears. Instead, I have to carry it alone and have to make her smile, give her love.
Nanay, let me love you!
(I will be writing a more stories of my adventure with my grandmother Nanay soon.)
