this post has not left my brain since seeing it and so i was curious as to how each of my detectives would react if they found out rebecca made this choice or, if not, at least seriously considered it

everett would be hurt, but i don’t think he would be surprised. again, he was 10 when rook died so he was old enough to notice the change in rebecca. the way she pulled back the moment rook was gone, how she always chose work over him, and so many other little things. i think pre-nell and pre-mason (+ the team) he might have let the swap happen, but now he has a daughter and people he deeply loves so he would fight to come back.

now oliver, oh he’d be hurt sure, but more than anything he would be pissed and there is no universe where he even considers letting her get away with it. he’s worked so hard over the years to love himself, he’s not about to let himself be erased for a man he barely knew and who has been dead for years.

i think chiara would also be angry and resistant. she doesn’t have as bad a relationship with rebecca as the former two, but it’s rocky and i think that would be the tipping point. the only positive is i think it would finally force her to admit her feelings toward nate and allow herself to be vulnerable.

and then there is levi. the mama’s boy (gender neutral). as much as it would hurt, i think they would agree to let the swap happen because in their mind, rook was their better in every way and despite their outwardly sunny disposition, they are incredibly insecure and don’t think highly of themselves.

and of course we know the team, especially the love interests, would never let it happen, but it’s fun to think about how my ocs would react.
