MCA calls for father-and-son duo to be removed from DAP
KUALA LUMPUR, April 27:
DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and secretary-general Lim Guan Eng should be removed from the party for “agreeing with hudud”.
MCA deputy secretary-general Datuk Wee Jeck Seng said “because of their thirst for power, they have readily tricked and misled DAP and the non-Muslims to support PAS”.
Citing PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s revelation that the Pakatan supreme council had agreed to the implementation of hudud law in Kelantan, Wee said this meant the supreme council should be held responsible for its failure to carry out its responsibility to the non-Muslims and DAP members by supporting PAS’ hudud law.
“PAS had never given up the dream of implementing hudud law and establishing an Islamic state.
“DAP had whitewashed PAS to the Chinese and non-Muslims simply so that they can win votes.”
The Tanjong Piai Member of Parliament (MP) called on DAP leaders and members who still had a conscience to protest against the father-and-son political duo.
He said they should be sacked from the party in order to save DAP from scorn.
Earlier, however, Kit Siang, as DAP adviser, had insisted hudud had not helped PAS win votes.
He added that the hudud issue had failed to help PAS retain Terengganu which it only managed to hold for a single term.
“It was voter discontent with Barisan Nasional (BN) that allowed the party to seize power in the state in 1999 before losing it back to BN in 2004.”
Lim said the voters in Terengganu were placing more importance on other issues rather than the implementation of hudud.
