Opposite to many of her classmates, Romy wasn’t born and bred in Evanston. She spent the first ten years of her life in New York, but when her mother started to get sick her parents decided that it was better for their family if they moved out of the city into a more quiet environment. They chose Evanston, because Romy’s mother Tiana grew up there and she wanted to be around her family. For Romy’s father Brian, the CEO of a mega cooperation, it made little difference because he spent most of his time travelling anyways. There was little consideration for what Romy wanted. For little Romy, it felt like her whole world was ending. She had to leave everything she knew behind and had to start over completely. The girl protested the move as much as she could, but sitting on her suitcase and refusing to pack made little difference.

Romy loved the spotlight ever since she starred in her first play in Kindergarten. So when they moved to Evanston, that’s the type of Clubs her parents signed her up for to make friends and friends she made. With her dramatic behavior and love for performing she fit right in with the Art Geeks. At the beginning of their time in Evanston, Tiana came to every play Romy starred in, but as the cancer progressed and it became increasingly harder for her to leave the bed her appearances became less frequent until she stopped showing up completely. After summer break her mother’s cancer only worsened and she had to be admitted to the hospital full time. Romy visits her mother in the hospital every day after school and the toll it’s taken on Romy is obvious. Every day when she comes to visit her mother, Romy’s afraid that it could be the last time she sees Tiana. Due to her father’s busy job, she’s usually home alone, something she dislikes but is used to by now. She tries to distract herself by hooking up with Jason McLean and over time she’s started to develop feelings for him. Romy get’s along well with mostly everyone in her group, the big exception being Genie Darling. She despises the other girl and thinks that Genie thinks too highly of herself. Genie thinks she is someone and Romy disagrees.
