@suis0u same! And it was the reason why i haven't read anything in English for fun for a long long time)))) too many new unknown words to "see" that movie)))) fanfiction helped a lot

That’s true! Fanfiction helped me with English in a lot of ways, ha. But I think - at least I discovered that for me - it also depends on the writing style of the author. There are authors I like to read, because they write interesting stories. But their style of writing is - for me as someone who doesn’t speak English as first language - kind of complicated and not fluently to read. It feels for me like ‘reading Shakespear’ or maybe even something non-fictional (not the best examples but I think it you know what I mean). It’s good but not easy to read and therefore the inner cinema has also difficulties to be formed. Especially when I see words and can’t translate them in relation of the context of the whole sentence and actually have to look it up.

But then there are also authors with a very fluent style of writing. Those authors who just have their way with words and how they put them together, that you are immediately inside their world and the inner cinema is there in an instant. And because of that it’s easier to handle words you can’t translate because you have a better crasp of the context and therefor a very good guess what the word is supposed to mean.
