They’d confirmed the co-ordinates and the bastards had hidden him in plain sight. They’d missed him a thousand times but now no longer.
She was faster and stronger and felt no pain from their bullets. She exerted no effort when she tore them into pieces and certainly felt no remorse when she pulled their worthless souls from their mangled bodies.
The pain came when she found him huddled in an air-vent grimy, bruised, frightened, confused and lost. He shook with fear and tears and protected a dirty puppy in his arms.
“I’m here,” she whispered, drawing him into a careful embrace, “I’ve got you.”
