Second Sight
"Father wants to see you."
"See me?" Grell blinked, tipping her head slightly. "Why would Daddy want to see me?"
"Please do not delay." William ignored her question, mildly chiding in his tone. "It is not polite to keep him waiting, as he is a busy man."
"Oh alright." Grell heaved a dramatic sigh, signing off from her current document before unplugging herself from the mainframe. She paused to kiss his cheek before sashaying passed him and into the lifts.

Spectacles comprised of an entire floor of its own, always bustling with activity as dutiful Reapers tested, created and fitted the precious glasses every Reaper worked hard to earn.
Grell scanned all the Reapers on the floor, locating Sir Lawrence Anderson in his office on the far side of the west area. She suddenly felt self-conscious and nervous, tapping on his door softly before poking her head in.
"You wanted to see me?"
"You come to me cap in hand, Grell Sutcliff." Lawrence boomed, his chuckle a throaty hum. "I am not going to reprimand you 85 years down the track for a pair of broken glasses."
"Well I can't read you, Daddy." Grell pouted, taking a seat in front of his desk. "And for the record I didn't mean to break them, but then again I didn't mean to be hurled off two storeys onto a flight of stairs."
"I asked you here because your new pair are ready." He announced, placing a glasses case on the desk and pushing it within her reach.
"But Daddy I don't- I mean, with these eyes I can see perfectly fine." Grell bit her lip. "I exceed even the sharpest Reaper vision."
Strange, she thought, how that statement brought her no pride. She had worked hard to earn her red glasses and though she now possessed eyes that could read, dissect, and catalogue all manner objects it saw, Grell found herself missing the flamboyant spectacles.
"I know." Lawrence tisked, as though insulted by her declaration. "But William requested these be made for you."
Carefully opening the case, Grell found herself looking at familiar red lacquered frames.
"Go on." He coaxed, gesturing for her to put them on.
"Oh." She gasped, then collapsed into bright laughter. "Oh that idiot! How did he know?"
"Because he's William." Lawrence reminded her. "Now off you go. Take good care of them."
"Thanks Daddy." Grell leaned over the desk and kissed his cheek. "I will, I promise."

She skipped back to the office, a spring in her step and her trademark red frames perched on her nose. The lenses were plain glass, but the weight was familiar.
When she entered William's office, chest puffed with pride, he gave her a proud, relieved smile in return.
