1.) What’s your opinion on hyperflexion, or Rolkur?
I'm really against it. It's animal abuse to me. You force an animal in a very uncomfortable and unhealthy pose. I'm even amazed that these horses succeed to keep their balance. (at least kinda)
2.) What’s your horses biggest quirk?
He's very stubborn, haha. And he sometimes tend to lean forwards a lot, which blocks my shoulders and is very annoying. (sometimes I believe it would be easier to ride with a bit, since Witte takes a lot of pressure on his tack, but he's not my horse so I can't decide about that)
3.) Proudest moment of your equine career?
I think it was when I jumped 1 meter for the first time, which is sadly many years ago. (I don't get the opportunity anymore)
4.) Most embarrassing moment of your equine career?
That was probably this fall, haha. I was riding Witte in the forest alone and there was a fallen tree on my path (which was very safe since other equestrians had removed the branches). Witte and I haven't jumped in years and I was stupid enough to ride with my all stars since I couldn't find my riding shoes and I got very reckless…
I fell. Of course. And Witte didn't want to get caught so every time I got close, he started to trot. (he was headed to his stable of course) Luckily there was a woman on my way who took him and I just stood there, covered in scratches, with a red, panting face and covered in sand. That was pretty embarrassing. But at least I didn't have to walk back. :I
5.) Worst fall?
I luckily haven't got serious accidents, but when I was quite little I lost control of a big horse once and when I fell, he accidentally kicked my knee. (which led to a rather innocent internal bleeding and swelling in my knee)
6.) Biggest lesson that you have learnt from horses?
To stay calm and have patience.
7.) Dream trainer?
I don't really have a dream trainer. I'm mainly a recreation rider and for dressage I'm really happy with the instructor I have. She's a super sweet and patient person and probably the best instructor I've had so far :')
8.) What do you want to do as a career with horses if you could/can?
I think would love endurance. Jumping also seems interesting to me.
Sometimes I'm thinking about doing something with horses (maybe therapy or something) after I finish my current studies, but I'm not sure if such a job is enough to afford my life.
9.) What was your first ever horse/pony like?
Sadly enough I have never been able to afford a horse or pony. The first pony I've ridden was in the riding school; it was a lovely 30-year old mare. I don't remember a lot how she was like (I was 6 back then), but she was certainly very loved. I remember her death was a huge drama.
10.) Who’s horse on Tumblr would you most like to ride?
No idea, actually, haha. Everyone's horse probably ;D
