thankyou!! : ) that would be Gryff. a few weeks ago I would’ve answered for Roo, but there’s been a step-change.
11. Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?
yeah, they’re always just automatically bi/pan. starting to think I’m physically incapable of creating anything else [half-serious].
12. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?
u__u I struggle to write anything about her and Solas that isn’t the “they are tragically and unavoidably and beautifully doomed” variety and doesn’t make me feel sad. for them it always come back to that for me for some reason.
13. How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?
I have headcanons for where she’s at and what she’s doing post-Trespasser for sure. well, for what she’s doing until I adapt them to fit to the story going forwards as its going to be presented by BW in DA4 of course. :) I guess these ideas take her story a year or two past where we leave off in 9:44 Dragon
post 9:44, she’s now fitted with an enchanted, ironbark-based prosthetic arm. The device was the result of the combined efforts of Dagna and the Lavellan clan’s mages and Master craftsmen (bit more details on that hc here). I’m sure Dorian and Vivienne offered input and advice too. she has largely adapted to life and combat with one arm + a prosthesis, but the device requires regular maintenance which involves visits to or from Dagna & co.
she’s relentlessly leading the shadow Inquisition in a campaign of guerilla warfare, covert ops and sabotage attempts against the Dread Wolf. these efforts are undertaken in partnership with Cassandra Pentaghast, and assistance is provided by Lavellan Clan scouts, Sera & the Friends of Red Jenny, Marquise Briala & her spy network, and some of Leliana’s most trusted people such as Charter. these efforts often see her and the group’s people ranging north into Tevinter, where Dorian and his Lucerni are useful contacts. she has adopted the Vir Banal'ras, and is trying to hunt her enemy down, harry his every step and foil his designs by any means necessary and however possible.
she’s reunited with her beloved clan, where some infants were born in her absence, and she’s now based out of Wycome, where she’s taken on the mantle of Red Jenny, and where Clan Lavellan have a seat on the new city council in alliance with Viscount Tethras of Kirkwall. she and her clan still have a great, close relationship
bonds continue to grow between the Lavellan clan and the City Elves of Wycome, which is in line with Gryff’s hopes for the future of modern elves. a few even joined the shadow Inquisition after being handpicked by Gryff and Deshanna for their rogue-y skills and apparent trustworthiness. this idea was actually the origin of my OC Ghildarion, who isn’t an Inquisitor. in one universe he never actually ran away to the Dalish - he encountered the Lavellan clan when their storyline took them to Wycome (he’s a CE who is fairly prominent in Wycome). in another he did run away (from a different Marcher city though) and joined the Lavellan clan and was a member of the clan at the time that Gryff left to attend the Conclave.
she told her clan the things she’d learned about elven history, Fen’Harel and the false gods during her time away with the Inquisition, beginning with a private conversation with her mentor Keeper Deshanna, and later, the hahrens. she has great respect for the elders’ views on this new knowledge and their guidance here is welcome and valued.
the Champion of Kirkwall, who returned from Weisshaupt, put her in touch with Merrill, who happens to know a thing or two about eluvians.
songs are now sung of the friendship that grew between Inquisitor Lavellan and Seeker Pentaghast!
I’m worried that her body will start to change a bit as a result of her drinking dragon-blood to become a Reaver. well, technically as a result of her delving too deeply and using too much of the power
there’s been some changes to her approaches to things and such as a consequence of things she’s learned, the amount of spies and corruption seeded in the Inquisition and Solas’ identity. I explored those fairly in-depth recently here
she’s waiting on the next Arlathvhen coming around, where I think she wants to recruit for the shadow Inquisition’s cause, but is leery of doing so because of the possibility of being duped or infiltrated by Solas’ agents. mostly though at the Arlathvhen I think she wants to tell the other clans what she’s learned so the Dalish can discuss together about them and see if they can reach consensus about what to do going forwards, if anything, but is a bit worried about doing so - Dalish clans are all so different and there’s a chance the information may not go down completely well with everyone (understandably). I imagine in the meantime Deshanna counselled her not to tell them just yet until they figure some more things out? I think she wants to try, as all you can do is try. she wants to call for an Arlathvhen early even, but the next one can’t be too far off in the timeline. I’m keen to see what’s going on with the elves by the time of DA4!
