Forty Weight Coffee Roasters Cupping (Tasting)
I like the one-on-one interaction with portrait subjects and having a little more control over the shoot - lighting, positioning. Which makes me a way better portrait photographer than event shooter. However, I do love me some Forty Weight Coffee. So when they asked me to shoot a cupping (tasting), I was down. Coffee that I dig and learning more about it? Yes.
I'd never been to a cupping before. It's a little like a wine tasting - explanation of the coffees and everyone gets to smell and a little taste. You write down your thoughts on notecards - earthy, blueberry, tangy. There are no right or wrong answers. Totally low key.
Forty Weight presented four coffees: Ethiopia, Yirgacheffe, Konga-Natural; Brazil, Espirito Santo, Sitio Sao Gabriel; Kenya Kaimb Estate; and Panama, La Esmeralda Geisha. I was busy shooting but got a little taste of each. The blueberry notes in the Ethiopian were crazy evident!
The event was at Roogla in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. Check out photos from the evening here.
(NOTE: Yep, loads of imagery as per client request)
