it's a real shame that they don't have enough interactions, they're SUCH an interesting duo especially with the parallels that can be drawn from them? like the both of them have grown up isolated and also engage in self isolation too to protect themselves (cater does it so he won't have to feel the pain of leaving someone, while rook does it so he can keep his life distanced from others) and just both tend to hide the deeper and more vulnerable/troubled aspects of themselves a ton. they dislike opening up, even to the people they value most, and even though they completely hold their relationships dearly, they still prefer to keep that barrier of distance between themselves and other people.
besides just their parallels, theyre also just INCREDIBLY silly and sweet together tooā¼ļø like i said we need more interactions between them because omfhjdj theyre tooth rottingly sweet i love them. like in rook's sleepwear vignette where cater approaches rook about his birthday (the day before), takes birthday photos w him and then stays up until MIDNIGHT so he can send him the photos + a happy birthday message as soon as it turns 12 AM on his birthday (rook also devotes a section of his diary entry to say just how happy he was that cater remembered his birthday)
or in their masterchef event where rook spends like half the class time admiring cater from across the kitchen because he found his determination and resolve to be beautiful
