for the vast majority of ships, i'd say i'm pretty open to them. I'm very much a multishipper, and even when two characters havent interacted much, i love to enter my mind palace and go "okay but what IF they hung out more.... what's the potential here 🤔🤔🤔" so more often than not, there's gotta be a Reason i might not be too keen on a ship, otherwise there's a pretty high liklihood i'd give it a chance.

ive even changed my mind on some i didnt initially like, for example way back when i didn't really like floyd/riddle as a ship, but after getting deeper into the story and understanding the characters as a whole more, and rereading several story sections with them together and kind alooking at it from a different angle, i came around to it and i do enjoy it a bit. i have a post around somewhere where i go into more specifics with them but i'll spare a repeat lol.

or sebek and sliver, which i initially only wasn't super fond of because i had originally misunderstood where sebek came from and i thought lilia was his caretaker too and that he and silver were more like adoptive brothers lol. eventually i got over that MISUNDERSTANDING on my part, and thery're more like, a pair i dont necesarrily actively ship, but i passively think theyre a cute childhood friends ship that's been through a lot together. so like i dont seek them out but i can appreciate them when i see them lol. and i like a lot of their development together in book 7.

that being said, there are a fewwwww ships that come to mind of varying degrees/reasons i'm not so fond of but i'll put them under a readmore in case no one wants to see me explaining why i dont feel keen on specific ships. also i take forever to explain things so it's long SORRY lol

i think the main ship that has me like "i dont think it's necesarrily a bad ship but it's just not for me" is kalim and jamil. like do not tet it twisted - i see the vision. i understnad why people would find them appealing. i do think their relationship in general is super interesting, especially watching it progress through the story and learning more about both kalim and jamil as characters. and i love both jamil and kalim individually a whole lot- i feel like i find a lot of people that love one and hate the other but i just cant think that way, theyre both my sons 😔💕 but anyway, really they just make me too sad as a ship lol. like i feel like, at least in my eyes, they just aren't' 't good for each other in that sense, and i like them better as like, either people who grow to keep out of each other's way orrrr grow to repair the friendship they seemed like they'd had when they were initially really young and before they had expectations thrust upon them 😭 so i'd like to see them bond, and i liked seeing how they've developed in book 7 and 7.5 hehe. and like again i can see the vision and i can understand why and how people might see alternatively ways that they could work together. i dont necessarily think theyre wrong for that interpretation or headcanons! it's just not for me so i respectfully stay in my own lane there 🫶

it's funny bc i think i really like all of the second years in basically any ship combo EXCEPT ^ those two and also excluding jade/floyd lol, bc one of my big No Rules is also that i'm not a fan of incest ships 🙂‍↔️

which follows intoooo where i am with diasomnia ships... as previously mentioned, i dont mind and passively enjoy silver/sebek, but i dont go for any other diasomniaxdiasomnia lol. reasons being A. lilia is an adult so shipping him with any students is a No for meee. double so with silver and malleus since he's litearlly dad to sliver/some degree of caretaker to malleus. he raised those boys... he saw sebek grow up too! (really i think my only lilia ships are with baul and malleus' parents lol <3)

which is ALSO why i'mnot fond of malleus shipped with silver or sebek. i feel like malleus is a tricky spot because he's got that whole deal of being like. he's Absolutely Older Than All Of Them lol, BUT he's a teenager by fae standards and def behaves like a teenager lol. so like i treat him as a Fellow Teen in terms of shipping (so i do like him with some of the other third years Minus Lilia lol) BUT really the only reason i dont like him with silver or sebek is just because we've seen flashbacks and stories of malleus very much already like some degree of grown into a teenager(?) state when sebek and silver were like. babies and tolders and young children. so for ME it's too weird jKLHFKLHWEL like "oh he knew that guy when he was an infant i dont think he'd wanna kiss him" lol. double for silver because lilia had such a hand in at least some of malleus' upbringing. so like theyre not brothers but in my mind palace i can see malleus looking at them both kinda like the little brothers he never had...

and like, i kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinda sorta see where people are coming from with those, like maaaaybe people can suspend their disbelief enough to not really be bothered by the "malleus knowing them as youths" thing and probably like the knight/royal situation and whatnot, but i just cant get past it personally lol. makes me too unnncomfortable... but i dont mind malleus and the other students, mostly cause again, he's a Fae Teenager™️ + he did not know them as babies LOL. tho with malleus i mooostly tend to just stick with the third years.

AND SPEAKING OF THE THIRD YEARS. well usually i just ship them either together or sometimes with the second years [jade and cater my beloved rarepair i will champion you FOREVER) but it DEPENDS. like, i'm not really fond of leona with anyone outside of the third years, again just bc like, idk he's 20 HALKSHDFKL like. sure 20 and 17 isnt a huge gap and theyre in the context of All Being In School Together so like i again kiiiinda see where people are coming from, buuuut. i dunno, i feel like around that age i dont like going past 2 year gap (except i guess in weird cases of malleus where hes ambiguously teenager lol.... my head hurts if i think about it too long....) (and even then i dont really ship the first and third years together. like they just dont really have that vibe for me, but i will go for first and second years or second and third years)

and maybe i think too hard about it. but even so i just dont really see a shippy vibe with leona outside of the third years anyway HHASHDKLHFW like he just has that cranky older student/"older brother that picks on you" vibe with the second and first years lol. so shipping them's not for me!! the third years in general (MINUS LILIA!!!) are just one big situationship in my mind 🫶

oh also i dont ship ortho with anyone. im kind of not clear sometimes on what his age is really meant to be bc i think my friend and i did the math and he'd come out to be around 16 like chronologically/literally(i think??? i dont remember where we got that from or if im even remembering the number right lmao) but like he always had the Vibe of Younger yknow?? idk if it's just the voice or bc he's small or the general "learning to be like a human makes him have a childlike essence about him" deal but. i just dont lol, he's the fellow bestie to the first years 🫶

anyway i think that's about it. IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT BC I YAPPED A LOT OF DETAILS but like when it comes down to it i def am on board with more than im not lol. it's way easier for me to explain what i'm not into ^ vs what i am, bc if you asked me what ships i did like id be out here comparing like literally every combo of the main cast and we'd be here. I just want to remind everyone how affordable buying food from indigenous tribes is. I live in a major city and I was able to purchase and ship (15) pounds of fish from back home to myself for cheaper than I could buy it from a grocery store here in the city. Honor the Earth is an organization founded by Winona Duke of the White Earth Nation (Anishinaabe/Ojibwe) with Amy Ray and Emily Saliers (LGBTQ musical duo Indigo Girls and long-time political activists.) You can buy Honor The Earth merch online to support the environmental work they do, specifically to help protest Enbridge Oil’s Line 3 Pipeline routed through tribal lands that endangers wild rice beds which are both a staple crop and sacred to Anishinaabeg.

However, Winona also heads up a hemp farm called Winona’s Hemp & Heritage Farm located on and run primarily by members of the White Earth Nation. It seeks to general local wealth for the tribe by encouraging the production of hemp as a fast-growing renewable and regenerative crop resource to be used for everything from non-plastic textiles/clothing, housing construction and insulation, food products, and CBD products! (They also grow other crops there such as heirloom varieties of corn, beans, squash, Jerusalem artichokes, potatoes, and ceremonial tobacco in an effort to help re-establish and increase tribal food sovereignty!)
