things start to get a little more serious for everyone around him once he gets drafted to the sharks like "oh shit oh my god is he about to do something inappropriate?" one of the brass actually comes to have a serious talk with will RE: please don’t try to court your captain the last teammate who tried that was so thoroughly rejected he requested a trade two months later and will is like “uh huh doesn’t like traditional courting gifts, got it”
so he may not be able to do things the traditional way (bummer) but he has enough grit and determination for 20 alphas so instead of gifting things to mack he starts inviting him to spend time together “to improve line chemistry” and mack (secretly smitten) is like “well i guess if it’s for line chemistry…” and once they’re going out in public will is like “you’ll let me pay right [big puppy eyes] mom raised me to be a gentleman you wouldn’t make colleen mad at me on purpose would you?” and mack is like “well i guess i can’t ruin your relationship with your family…”
there is an incident at one of the barbecues where will gets a bit tipsy and grabs mack’s waist (usually big no-no and would get you told off by mack who likes his personal space) but macklin BLUSHES??? to the shock of everyone else and just lets will do what he wants
so the team slowly realize that mack (who usually lives like a nun) is in fact smitten with the new rookie and they attempt to shovel talk will but he is just very earnestly taking notes about anything that they bring up that has set mack off in the past and the team also one-by-one start to realize that puppy smitty genuinely wants nothing more than to wife mack up and they start Meddling to get them together
will doesn't need that though because he's relentless: he's coming to mack's house to drive him to practice, he's taking him out to dinner every day, he's at mack's place baking him banana bread and watching rom coms (he's happily playing on mack's wing despite being a centre before)
mack is going through the most romantic shit he's ever experienced in his life like "well he must be like that with everyone, right? it's not that he likes little old me" but will is going ring shopping so he's prepared to propose to mack at any time that seems right
