Alexios had promised the assassin a romantic date to see the ocean and he was going to deliver on that. First though was acquiring their dinner. He took Jacob out in the forest to hunt for an animal that would make the tastiest meal. They tracked and killed the biggest stag and dragged it back home. Alexios was going to prepare the animal, but his mother insisted that she make their meal. There was no arguing with a spartan woman who made up her mind so he took Jacob to the market.
They bought some good alcohol he let Jacob pick out and some fresh bread and cheese to go with the smoked venison Alexios’ mother was preparing for them. Alexios also bought a soft blanket for them to lay on and a small jug of scented oil that he wouldn’t tell Jacob what it would be for. His answer being “You’ll find out.” with a smug grin across his lips. Another stop was at the stables to buy a horse for Jacob since his own steed Phobos couldn’t carry them both and their supplies.
Once the assassin picked his steed to ride for the remainder of his time here they then returned to the house where their dinner was ready and packed. Alexios thanked his mother and strapped the basket to Phobos’ saddle then tied the rest of the supplies to the saddle of Jacob’s horse. It was a moderate ride to the coast, about an hour on horseback, but it was a peaceful journey that let Jacob get to see the surrounding land.
When they were nearing the harbor Alexios lead the way up the hill so Jacob had the best view of the open ocean where the green grass turned to golden sand and the ocean was the bluest of blues. The sun was starting to dip down the sky, turning it pink and orange and yellow. He looked over to Jacob and chuckled at the look of awe he had. “Beautiful, isn’t it? That little island over there is where we’re headed. We’ll borrow a little fishing boat and I’ll take us out there.”
