ROR Headcanons: Thor Falling In Love With You<333
[Sorry if this is a little inaccurate? I have no idea when i wrote this this was so long ago. Pretty sure this was after i saw the panel where Thor smiles when humanity wins for the first time]
-The God of Thunder who’s slowly warming up to humanity and CANNOT admit it to anyone and himself.
-After his fight with Lu Bü, he had his whole change-of-heart moment and everything, yes.
-But generational pride stops him from ever getting too close.
-And lets bsfr, even if he was brave enough to be close to someone, he wouldn’t exactly be used to it. A life of being the strongest didn’t exactly help with development of a social life.
-But I feel that if he’d fall, he’d most likely start out with small acts of service, then move on to gifts and quality time.
-It started after his match, when he was walking to the infirmary.
-He noticed you…trailing him. Little mortal weirdo.
-But you slowly entered the room after him and asked if you could see Mjölnir.
-He raised an eyebrow, but slowly tilted its handle towards you to give you a better view.
-You slowly reached out to touch it. Thor watched you closely.
-Your hands traced the markings on it and you asked questions in a soft, steady voice. Purposeful.
-Before you left, he stopped you and asked your name (insanely surprising, I know)
-He told himself it was for safety purposes yk. Like in case you were doing shady shit, became his enemy and he’d have to off you.
-It wouldnt be hard at all, you mortal.
-In reality, you stole metal from the gods’ side of Asgard and welded your own weapons from them.
-For the Valkyries, you were a lifesaver. Now they didnt have to put theirs on the line for the sake of humankind anymore. You were more than happy to help, of course.
-Back when you were alive, you were amazingly known for incorporating technology into all your works, making your weapons effective and efficient. They were treated like the gold of the Aztecs down on Earth.
-But one day, while you gathered pieces of old weapons from the gods’ version of a junkyard, Thor caught you. It was a pile of his broken, rejected things.
-You apologised quickly to him, and explained yourself the best you could in the presence of the God of Thunder.
-He stopped you. Ramblings of a mortal were always pathetic to him.
-The firm look on his face told you he wouldn’t tell on you. But he needed something in return.
-He broke another weapon. And he needed an extra pair of hands to help him mend.
-Naturally, you agreed. Now you welded weapons for the God of Thunder and humankind’s heroes.
-Thor and you grew…close??? Could that even describe the fact that you were a speck of dust that he kept around?
-He still ignored you for the most part, unless it was completely necessary to talk to you.
-But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t notice things about you.
-Like your little quirks, your hobbies, your skills.
-It was all so foreign to him. So human.
-It wasn’t decided yet whether that was a good thing or not.
-Like the fact that you still look at him like how you looked at the sun. Like it would burn your eyes. But to be fair, he was much taller than you and practically oozed a gold-like aura.
-All your small flaws always reminded him of what you are. Human. He, like the other ethereal beings didnt have the best relationship with your kind. I mean, Ragnarok happened for a reason.
-Humans are greedy, selfish little evolved apes. A known fact among the immortals.
-Yet you made him question that ideology.
-He noticed how small, simple things would make you happy. Like food, books, art.
-There was a certain…spark in the way you looked like you enjoyed what you did that made him question truly whether all the gods were doing was right.
-Occasionally, he would wonder. Wonder how you could be so joyful and enthusiastic about things from your old life.
-A life is so short. How could you have been content with everything you achieved when you clearly didn’t achieve all your goals? How does one even manage to get attached to something that seemed like the equivalence of a year for his kind?
-On an evening where he felt a little adventurous, he asked you so. You smiled and replied easily, “Why would I dwell on the things I dont have when there is so much I already hold?”
-That made him even more confused. Does that mean you were settling for less? Did you not have an ounce of determination?? Or does that mean that your goals would just change? If so, were they really goals or just mere fantasies?? Then, what exactly did you strive for? *What do humans strive for?*
-Despite that, he knew he would eventually understand. You were just…a complicated creature.
-He had to admit, there was a certain creativity you incorporated into his weapons that he hadn’t seen in his other welders.
-The patterns felt artistic, opening him up to new emotions when he did talk to his weapons (which was a lot)
-You were expressive. After all, he had seen your works a few times.
-He had stared at a painting of the sunrise across the ocean, a storm on the horizon for the longest time.
-You stepped in, and explained to him what it was. A piece that represented the unpredictability of life. Yet, the contentment that laid within.
-He looked down at you. You smiled back. “…I strive for different things in my life. And every one left me on another path. But I never came back empty handed.”
-Thor stared at you for the longest time after that. He never looked at you nor your paintings the same again.
-Whatever the hell was going on with his mind seriously fucked with his normalcy.
-He couldnt go an hour without subtly brushing past you or staring at you while you worked (in a not-so-subtle way)
-Eventually, he cornered you somewhere. “…What do humans think love is?”
-You were taken aback, but assumed things were going on in his life that he wouldn’t EVER talk about in detail.
-Then moments later, he blurted out: “Hm. I was right. I am…in love with you.” (words sputtered out firmly but with like an hour’s pause between each one).
-You smiled and returned his feelings, followed by his nonchalant hum in response.
-But his heart was beating in his throat when you held his hand.
-He wouldnt know love if it smacked him in the face with his own hammer.
-He is indifferent to all affection, but slowly begins accepting it
-The gods and goddesses aren’t exactly known to have amazing marriages//love stories.
-Because they are his only example, love has never been something they worked towards. Something they felt.
-It wasnt anything they regarded as special or beautiful. Just something that kind of happened
-Even most marriages he knew were marriages of convenience.
-So loving you is a struggle. But a struggle he was willing to go through.
-He leaves you alone a lot. You thought (at first) that it was because he didnt want to get affectionate.
-After much courage, you asked him why he was still so distant.
-“…I hear…that humans get..overwhelmed by new changes. Scaring you is not my intention.”
-Safe to say that after that, you began willingly spending more time with him.
-He also watched Ragnarok matches with you, and explains what techniques are being used by the gods while you tell him each humans’ backstory (hope your world history is good)
-If you havent guessed, yes, his love language is quality time.
-There is something about letting someone into his personal bubble and not feeling weird about it that touches his heart.
-He does not do acts of service (hes a lil warrior prince who will most certainly kill for you though)
-Physical touches takes him a while to get used to. Eventually, he’ll be alright, but never make the first move (unless…yk).
-Sometimes, he watches you weld his weapons, just to see the process of your creative flow (its new to him) and also give you pointers and criticism.
-He does love cuddle time. Really.
-You’re super warm but he’s too big for your bed so his place it is.
-Before you know it, you’ve moved most of your treasured things in and is already thinking about the future.
-“Half-gods were certainly not unheard of”, was one of Thor’s late night thoughts after sparring.
-His first sign that this was getting serious. He was thinking about kids with you now. (He panicked and his brain kind of spiralled when he thought of marriage with you. Especially a big one, inviting all the other gods and stuff. His reputation as a warrior would literally die)
-Later on, you smiled and told him that you’d be fine with a small wedding. He smiled back, one of the rare times he did, as he touched the ring on your finger.
