For the second time that afternoon, Aurora was asked to leave and let doctors do their job, but why would she leave if they hadn’t given her or Perdita an update on Juniper’s case for the last few hours? She had been Lt. Otero the entire morning–even though she had been ignoring her battalion's chief orders and had not rested a single bit ever since giving up on the oxygen tank they’d offered her. She was okay, now she needed Juniper to be, too. Perdita was mostly okay, she reckoned, but Aurora still made it clear for Yong Sun to check in on her sister’s hand from time to time… as selfish as she wanted to be, Rory knew the hospital was at full capacity at the moment.
While Perri rested at the house, Rory took over bedside duties, that way, when Juniper woke up, she would see one of her sisters by her side at all times. Shaky hands pushed the curtains open, letting the sunlight in. She couldn’t afford to lose anyone else. Their mother, some of their sisters, their village… there had been enough death already. Rory adjusted the covers over her sister’s torso as she leaned down for a kiss on her forehead. “ The doctors are getting very angry at me, Juni. You better wake up to tell them off, too. ”
