INSIDE THE HUNT FOR THE BOSTON BOMBERS
In Jan/Feb I spent almost a month in Phoenix, AZ shooting the narrative drama elements of this international co-production about the Boston Bombings. Given that Boston was under heavy snow at the time, and the film is set in Spring, we opted for the desert - especially given most of our locations were interiors, or else set at night. The only headache was Boylston St (the site of the bombings themselves) but our local producers Randy Murray Productions found a section of downtown Phoenix that matched very well. I had a week of prep & location scouting before being hurled into a very intense two week shoot. Given all the challenges we faced, and a very tight schedule, the filming went very well. The local team were fantastic and director Sam Hobkinson and line producer Ros Davidson did a great job of keeping it all together. RAW TV currently have two edit suites working back-to-back in London to make the deadline. This feature length TV film will be on NGC (U.S) and C4 (U.K) on the 15th April - the anniversary of the bombings. Personally I liked the working title, Five Days In April but I guess it wasn't obvious enough! Excited to see the finished film though; I think it's going to be a strong piece of work. I shot the entire film on a Sony F55 (2K) with Angenieux Optimo compact zooms.
