When her last client heads out, Rosa spends an indulgent minute collapsed onto her desk. They’re working on an extremely detailed back piece and she’s exhausted. She’s looking forward to cleaning up, heading home, eating whatever she can pilfer from the kitchen, and going immediately to bed. But when she looks up, she sees Isobel peeking over a pretty bouquet, this one a little more rustic than the one she brought last week. “Oooh, what are these, Iz? They’re so pretty!” Isobel blushes ever so slightly, and Rosa gets a little stuck watching the color rise in her face, the same color as the pretty flowers.

Rosa/Isobel, Teen, 10.4k There are so many things I love about this story - the exploration of what Rosa and Isobel's relationship might have been, Rosa getting to be messy and human and a teenage girl figuring shit out without getting killed for it, the way that music is woven through it - and the characterisation is perfect, I can hear the dialogue so clearly in Rosa and Isobel's voices.

Rosa stayed over at Liz and Max’s house the night before the Crashdown Christmas Eve party. Arturo started the tradition the Christmas after Rosa was resurrected, and it had been going strong every year since. When she moved to New York, she’d made a promise to Liz and her Dad that she’d come home for Christmas. And the party was going to be one of the highlights of her trip for sure.
