Roses are red
Just like you
So I have a need
To get rid of them too

Visits to the hospital and the nurse's office fluctuate every time. Sometimes he's stuck there for weeks, other times just a few days. It's a guessing game when he comes to after collapsing, how long he'll be stuck away from everyone and everything, confined to a bed in a room with painfully bright walls.
Therefore, when his condition is stable, Haruka likes to take the chance to go beyond a glass window and be outside. The school's flower gardens are something he has yet to explore, but a natural expanse especially for viewing must be a sight to see. So in his free time, he navigates the campus grounds with his sketchpad and a pencil in hand towards his destination.
The roses are, in fact, very pretty. Beautiful even, he assumes the groundskeeper takes meticulous time and effort to cultivate such fine blossoms. He notes to draw some of them later, but first he's even more excited to see the rest of whoever tends to the gardens' work.
The flowers keep his attention for an extensive amount of time, but sudden movement in the bushes catches his eye immediately. Setting his art supplies down gently, the curious boy can't help approaching it to investigate. Peeking through the tiny branches, he spots a lone chipmunk hidden within. Munching on what looks to be a berry, its tiny paws are rapidly turning the food while its mouth takes in as much berry as it can in single bites. Eyes sparkling, Haruka instinctively steps closer to get a better looks. Except...
The small creature dashes from the leafy cover of the shrubbery at the slightest noise, and Haruka catches a glimpse of a brown blur headed off in a direction past his feet. Disheartened and eager to keep watching it (also clinging onto the faint hope it won't run away from him), he's following after the animal instantly. His eyes are intensely trained on the little ball of fur, so much so that when it scurries between someone's feet, Haruka fails to notice until it's too late.
"Oof!" Colliding with said person and being knocked back onto the ground, the dark haired boy winces at the pain of impact. 'Ah! But more importantly, the person...!' Looking up at whoever he'd run into, Haruka remains on the dirt while he apologizes.
"I'm sorry! I wanted to catch up with that chipmunk, but it was running away too fast for me to catch it."
