@rosapapa asked ⋮ Sekai snuggles into the warmth of her, nose buried in the crook of her neck as he inhales deeply, basking in the sweetness of her scent. It feels as though he's whole once again, a puzzle piece clicking into place, and he can finally breathe. Wordlessly, he presses a kiss along the slender arch of her throat, trailing his lips down her shoulder and along her collarbone, each kiss a silent prayer of gratitude etched into her skin.
the woman’s eyes were drawn shut, her soft, pink lips set in a firm line as she tried ( and failed ) to pretend to still be asleep. akari didn’t know why she always drew these things out; sekai knew she was awake. he knew her ⎯⎯⎯⎯ probably even better than she knew herself. did that mean she would ever stop protesting against his absolutely false claims regarding how she snored in her sleep? no. just as he would still refuse to believe that he was a complete blanket hogger at night. both things were undoubtedly true; confirmed many times over the course of their long marriage yet it never got old. she didn’t know how they hadn’t managed to drive each other insane. maybe it was because after so many years apart, after so many years of feeling alone and empty, they were finally whole once more. why? because they were finally together again.
❛ sekai... ’ akari whispered weakly just as her neck instinctively arched backwards, her lips parting even more to let out a soft moan as his lips explored every bit of her skin. she wanted to beg him never to stop: to never stop kissing her, to never stop loving her, and to never leave her. ❛ i love you. ’ her eyelids shot open as the words suddenly left her mouth, her eyes blinking rapidly to adjust to the morning light. those words weren’t new; one of them would always greet the other with it as they woke up or whisper it into the other’s ear when they played footsie under the table during dull meetings. but this was different. her words sounded desperate as her hands frantically latched onto his face, almost as if she was scared he would disappear. but sekai was here. he was safe. they were safe. their children were sleeping safely in their beds. everything was fine...wasn't it? the galaxy was at peace. sailor chaos was gone.
then why am i still filled with so much dread?
why am i still so scared?
her husband’s blue eyes look over her with concern but akari simply shook her head before he spoke. ❛ promise me... ’ she began with a whisper. softly caressing her thumb across his cheekbone as she spoke. ❛ promise me we’ll always be together and that the kids will alway be safe. promise me that everything will be okay sekai. ’ he didn’t say anything after she had finished, just closed his eyes as he took her hand in his and held it to his lips. a small smile grew along her face as she let out a breath she hadn’t even realized was being held. no words or dramatic declarations were needed between the two of them because she instantly understood. she knew him just as much as he knew her after all. placing her free hand behind his neck, akari pulled him in close as their lips locked into a deep kiss. everything would be okay. it was a promise.
many centuries from now ⎯⎯⎯⎯ when her body was encased completely in crystal as she slowly ( and painfully ) pieced herself back together again, when the love of her life would return to the galaxy cauldron without her, and when their own children would be fighting amongst each other in a new war, akari would regret the day she made him promise her that everything would be okay.
