She did start it out by saying she was orphaned…but the rest was the truth. Homeless at 16, and doing her best anyways. Shingo stared at her, suddenly ashamed of the way he had reacted to her- even though he had only wanted to help. She paced the kitchen as she told her story, and he got up to walk with her. She seemed on edge still, and at a misstep- they bumped into each other.

Shingo grabbed onto her, and they stared at each other. For a moment. Perhaps, a moment too long.

rose: Shingo I…

shingo: We should get you moved.

rose: I sleep on the couch. It all works out, really. I live an okay life, and I have food to eat and it never rains on my head anymore because of…you know, the roof, except when it leaks and…

shingo: You didn't have a roof?

Rose blushed. She'd been outed- although, she wondered how he didn't just know. And so she told him, the story of how she worked to live in this apartment.

Finally, Rose got her apartment. It wasn't a very nice apartment, and she knew the neighborhood had a history of being broken into- but anything was better than sleeping on a bench and hoping it wouldn't rain. 

She had spent a few weeks rummaging through trash, and going to flea markets in search of furniture or decorations. She painted her own paintings and kept a few, just to make the place feel like home. 

Finally, I have a home again.
