Maximillian cringed a little, using flattery to distract her was exactly his plan. But he should have known Rose knew him well enough not to fall for it. “You know mum and dad, so cold and impersonal.” He said with a shrug. “I wouldn’t even be surprised if it takes them hours before they even realize I’m not there.” He admitted. “But that’s not important right now. I’m sure you slaved for hours making this spectacular meal. Can we try and enjoy it first then you go back to analyzing why I’m here?”
Rose gave him a small sad smile before reaching out to take his hand, giving it a small squeeze. "While I don't approve that you didn't give them a warning that you were coming, you know that you are always more than welcome here." She let go of his hand before letting out a small laugh as he flattered her again. "Alright, I suppose there is no sense in letting it get cold. But you do owe me an explanation."
