The inner wall was under attack - again. A few of the squads had lapped the area a few times, counting how many titans were still there. One of the groups were accidentally attacked by an aberrant, knowing they had no control over themselves, more soldiers were sent out to check on the situation. Levi was leading the assault, taking down all the titans he could see in sight. A few men managed to get caught, but the corporal barely winced. He hated pointless deaths, but it was an all too regular thing now. Keeping his head focused on the situation, the corporal made his way round to one of the other titans and noticed it falling to the floor. Oh, someone had already killed it. He was about to turn away when he saw the victor stood behind the fallen body. A female, not from the Scouting Legion clearly by the way she was dressed. Not an enemy surely, she just killed a titan, the corporal galloped over on his horse to speculate the situation.

♒ Childhood AU

Maria Fair had a penpal in Nibelheim and one in Midgar.  Zack’s mamma really liked writing letters.  When she wasn’t doing anything around the house, she was scrawling letters to ladies who lived around Mako reactors.  For some strange reason, she was just fascinated with how people lived around them.  Sometimes she visited these places where the ladies lived.

Sometimes she took her son to play with their kids.

There was only one problem with her son, however.  At the young age of nine Zack had started to get a rebellious streak.  He had attempted to run away twice. He was brought home by his Daddy once.  Zack came back on his own the second time after he had wandered several miles out of Gongaga.  His mother thought that since he came back, he deserved the reward of a good trip and that he could be trusted to stay nearby.

That had been a bad decision on her part. 

A boy with a shock of cropped black hair hastily scooted around the feet of adults.  It was obvious he wasn’t a Midgar kid.  His suntanned skin, light purple-gray eyes, and small hunting boots gave away that he was completely foreign to being under the plate.  No adult wanted to reach down to him and give him a talking to, fearing that he wouldn’t understand their language anyway.

Booted footfalls found their way deep into sector 5, where the small ravenette ducked into a church and yanked the door shut.  Squeezing his eyes tight, Zack let out a sharp puff of air.  This time, he got it.  He’d be free for good, right?

Opening his eyes, he spun around on his heel before ramming right into the body of a little girl.
