It’s a little bit fiddly at the very start, but once the spiral gets going it is so incredibly simple. It’s my go-to for tv knitting right now.

(sorry, I’m one of those tag-reading people but have no idea how to actually reply to them sooooo...) The pattern has you start out knitting a circle and the pick up stitches around the sides as you go to keep it connected. No sewing and sadly no magic (even if it seems like it lol)
